Everyday, I wake up and I can’t wait to start the day! I have a passion for the stock market. It is a breathing organic entity, with its own psychology and intricacies. Don’t get me wrong, trading is actually quite boring: Extended periods of slumber and boredom dotted with short intense periods of action but I just love it! Although I have a deep interest in the stock market, there is something else I want to do more: Become a United States Marine! I graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in Spring 2008 and went to Marine Officer Candidate School in October 2008. I was injured and NPQ’ed after 7 weeks with stress fractures in both shins. I won’t lie, I hated OCS but my goal is to go back and earn my commission. Every day before I go to bed, that’s the one thing I think about.

I’m somewhat of an odd animal. A gun-loving guy who wants to join the best gun club in the world, has mostly conservative views (free-market, minimal government intervention) but also has a hopelessly… romantic view of life and the world. I believe in minimizing my environmental footprint and am a recycling freak. I tend to have a bearish view on the stock market because I believe it will bring us back to a truer version of the American dream. One that relies much less on unsustainable personal consumption, and materialistic obsessions and more on the values of family, friends, nature, and enjoying the simple things. We are at an interesting crossroad in the History of our country: We can pretend that we can continue to live our unsustainable way of life a while longer, making the fall that much higher as time goes on. Or we can decide to take the fall now, allow future generations a chance to economic prosperity and a better standard of living…

Please take a look around. Although the blog is mainly focused on the stock market with some macro-economic commentary here and there, I also have a weakness for movies. I’m not talking about your run-of-the-mill Hollywood summer blockbuster, I’m speaking of indie and foreign movies, and small-budget productions that don’t get all the attention they may deserve. I enjoy your industrial Hollywood movie just like everyone else because they are entertaining but they are not what cinema is all about. They often do not feature the kind of acting, story-telling and writing that are true to the essence of movie-making and this is why I respect any well-established artists still willing to work on indie movies and other smaller productions that don’t get the type of attention your massive Hollywood production gets.

Dream Life: Desert island with your soulmate, just a man and a woman. Fend for yourself in nature, grow your own food, build your own house and furniture, make your own beer… Maybe a little too basic though, so I would add a couple really good friends, and a few taste of civilized life
