And we’re back for round two, this time focusing on the dominating gender. Just kidding ladies! But if you missed my first list, I ranked the beauties of the big screen earlier in the week. I must say, this list was much harder to do. That probably has to do with the number of meaty roles out there for the guys to take up compared for the women.

Romantic Comedies: A Dead Genre?
This rant has been long in the works. Like many, I have grown completely exasperated with the state of romantic comedies. Aside from last year’s delightful (500) Days of Summer, the genre has been dying a slow rotting death punctuated by the likes of absolutely putrid movies like The Ugly Truth, Four Christmases, Leap Year (WTF Amy Adams!??! You did not need that!), Couples Retreat, Love Happens, or the upcoming When In Rome which should be the epitome of atrocious.
REDiculous Box Office predictions: Jan 29-31, 2010
Do you like predictions? Because I like predictions. I LOVE predictions. And I figured you might as well. That’s why I’ve decided to start up a new column here on Anomalous Material. While I can’t say I’ve predicted box office numbers before, I follow them pretty closely, and should come pretty close to what the [...]
Top 50 Female Performances of the Decade
First off, I would like to remind people that 200 performances were nominated for an Oscar over the past decade, so there is bound to a couple favorites left off. Add to the fact that we usually disagree with the Oscars half the time, then we are definitely going to have a few deserving performances missing from the list. Trust me, I had to leave off a few that I absolutely loved. If I could I would put down every single Laura Linney, Meryl Streep, and Cate Blanchett performance.

Most Anticipated Movies of 2010
Almost four weeks into the new year and I post this list but no harm done as it doesn’t look like I missed anything. More than likely, about half of those following movies will be disappointing and I won’t end up seeing so don’t come back and flame me on that. At first glance, it looks like a a very solid 2010 movie crop after a slow beginning of the year. I won’t be able to go through all the little indies I’m excited about because there is way too many of them though. As always, any thoughts, leave them at the bottom!
Movie Review: Antichrist (2009)
“I am the best film director in the world,” proclaimed Lars von Trier rather brashly following the debut of his newest film at the Cannes Film Festival. This was immediately after he entered the media room to a shower of boos from critics who had just painstakingly viewed Antichrist, the latest from the Danish director.
Movie Review: Taking Chance (2009)
Taking Chance, directed by Ross Katz and adapted from the book by Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, is a 78-minute film made for HBO. The movie is based on the real-life experience of Lt. Col Strobl (Kevin Bacon) escorting the body of fallen Marine PFC Phelps Chance (LCpl posthumously) back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming.
