I was very much excited this week when I heard the news about Sam Worthington playing “Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future”!
hmm where to begin..
Is an extended cut of Avatar really necessary for the theaters? Especially during the Summer? Didn’t it make enough money.
It’s nice to see Barry Pepper join the cast of True Grit, can’t wait to check it out.
Good cast choices for The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Also the actress who plays Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass joined the cast as well.
I could go on, but it would be an extremely long comment haha.
I didn’t realize Peter Graves was from Minnesota until I heard it on the radio, Castor. I loved watching Mission Impossible TV show growing up.
Wow, where has Richard Jenkins been up to? Has he been in anything buzz-worthy since his Oscar-nominated turn in The Visitor? Wow, Silk Spectre scores a bona fide co-star there with Gary Oldman, not bad after ‘Couples Retreat!’ Btw, isn’t it amazing how many comic book adaptations are in the works? Seriously, I know the creativity well’s dried up a while ago in Hollywood but this is just ridiculous!
Oh man, Avatar but longer? And what’s with the DVD release coming so fast? Maybe it’s just me but it seems to be happening a lot quicker than usual. It really just seems that everyone attached to this thing is trying to milk every last penny from anyone who will watch it again and again.
You made a visually stunning movie with a turd of a plot. You made your cash in the theater, broke all kinds of records with the damn thing now just drop it on DVD and rake in some more cash before you release it on Blu Ray later and get even more money.
I think every time that I hear the word Avatar I start to get a headache now.
I wish they would just cast Captain America already. Krasinski was a good choice, as was Brian Geraghty (Hurt Locker) but when you start to include Phillipe and Tatum it’s clear they don’t care about quality of the character.
@ Dreher Bear, The Film Reel: Definitely agree with Avatar, it’s getting annoying simply to hear the name of the movie these days. I could see all the Avatar-fanatics rush to the next IMAX theater though so it will probably make some decent dough.
@ Fitz: The initial plans with Captain America was to cast a relatively unknown actor. The fact that they are going out their way to audition Tatum and Phillippe is probably a sign that they really have been unimpressed with the initial batch of actors.
@ Ruth: I loved Mission Impossible on TV too! Never cared much about Malin Akerman, she was weak in Watchmen and she might be one of the least remarkable “young” actress in the industry at this point. I agree that there is way too many comic books adaptation in the pipeline, many of them most people have never heard of!
I’m kinda worried bout the “Twilight wants a big name director” thing. I’m not a hater of the books or anything, but there is only so much any director can do with the material. I can’t see it actually helping any director’s career, given how little freedom any director on the project would actually have to put their mark on it.
On the otherhand, if you’ve read a plot summary of the final book (what with literally knock-out sex and the mooting of vampire-and-wolf wife-swapping, vampire pregnancies and werewolves who fall in love with said babies) it could be the best arthouse movie ever made. Could be. It won’t, as they’ll tone down the crazy to bring it to the screen, but seriously…
Evans has been offered Captain America role

Yep. Let’s see if he takes it. Weird that he didn’t accept it right away…
