I'm kinda worried bout the "Twilight wants a big name director" thing. I'm not a hater of the books or anything, but there is only so much any director can do with the material. I can't see it actually helping any director's career, given how little freedom any director on the project would actually have to put their mark on it.

On the otherhand, if you've read a plot summary of the final book (what with literally knock-out sex and the mooting of vampire-and-wolf wife-swapping, vampire pregnancies and werewolves who fall in love with said babies) it could be the best arthouse movie ever made. Could be. It won't, as they'll tone down the crazy to bring it to the screen, but seriously...

@ Dreher Bear, The Film Reel: Definitely agree with Avatar, it's getting annoying simply to hear the name of the movie these days. I could see all the Avatar-fanatics rush to the next IMAX theater though so it will probably make some decent dough.

@ Fitz: The initial plans with Captain America was to cast a relatively unknown actor. The fact that they are going out their way to audition Tatum and Phillippe is probably a sign that they really have been unimpressed with the initial batch of actors.

@ Ruth: I loved Mission Impossible on TV too! Never cared much about Malin Akerman, she was weak in Watchmen and she might be one of the least remarkable "young" actress in the industry at this point. I agree that there is way too many comic books adaptation in the pipeline, many of them most people have never heard of!

I wish they would just cast Captain America already. Krasinski was a good choice, as was Brian Geraghty (Hurt Locker) but when you start to include Phillipe and Tatum it's clear they don't care about quality of the character.
