10 Movie Facts About Me (Meme)

baby_peeingScott from the blog “He Shot Cyrus” recently started a new meme named “10 Movie Facts About Me” and I just learned that I was tagged by the evil Univarn over at A Life in Equinox (Fool! What’s a Univarn anyway?:)). Since I’m a (really) nice guy, I will keep this thing chugging along by participating (insert evil laugh #17b here).

  1. The first movie I ever saw in theater was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990). For this reason, it has a special place in my heart. No, not really, I’m kidding ;)
  2. I have not seen classics such as Citizen Kane, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or 2001: A Space Odyssey
  3. I have never seen a movie more than twice in the movie theater. I have to admit, Transformers was one of them.
  4. Going to pee during a movie is a major no-no. I use awesome bladder control to avoid violating this sacred law.
  5. Movies I have seen the most often usually are from the war genre with Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day, Blackhawk Down leading the way
  6. My favorite movie is LA Confidential (1997)
  7. Rudy pulled on my heartstrings
  8. batman_beginsI own a dozen movie posters among which Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, Walk the Line, Flag of Our Fathers, Batman Begins (the cool one, actually it’s so cool they sent me 2 for the price of 1)…
  9. Number 9 is a number that has just been banned from Anomalous Material
  10. I visit every link in my blogroll every day and attempt to leave some insightful comments like “Muahaha LOLZZZ ROFLMAO XOXOXO” or sometimes more movie-related comments such as “I absolutely agree that white sharks would eat gazelles if they saw any” or “Since radioactive decay is exponential with a constant probability, each process could as easily be described with a different constant time period”

Like any internet meme, you are supposed to pass it along by tagging other people so I chose the 5 movie bloggers I hate the most. Those unlucky ones who will have an extra assignment are going to be:

  • Heather from Movie Mobsters: The Anomalous Material’s MVP has great responsibilities like… extra homework
  • Kaiderman from The List: That’s for spamming my blog with real comments
  • Darren from the m0vie blog: I hate you too, your post are more awesome than mine and I’m jealous
  • Ruth from Flix Chatter: The fact that you haven’t seen The Last of the Mohicans is unforgivable. Here is your punishment.
  • Steve from The Film Cynics: Poptart! Don’t give me that stunned look and get working! TODAY! TODAY! (Drill Instructor impersonation)

If I didn’t tag you, it doesn’t mean I don’t hate you too!

  1. i LOVE the movie L.A. Confidential too! but i rarely see movies more than once in the theater. i think Sex and The City (saw it 3 times in the theatrer) and Revolutionary Road (2x) were the only exceptions.

  2. Ripley says:

You are dasterdly. I love it.

    Also, #3 confuses me.

  3. CMrok93 says:

I agree so much with number 4. I only do it when the movie is terrible, and even then I don’t. That is a golden rule all reviewers, new or old, must have.

  4. Kaiderman says:

hahaha… I was going to watch the Lakers today but I guess I’ll write a post instead… thanks, Castor… hahaha… It’ll be up in the morning. I had a comment about the poster thing but I’ll save it for mine. Oh, and the Rosses, M. Carter, Aiden, Fandango and Paragraph… get your typewriters ready!
PS… SPAM??? It’s not my fault your opinions are so skewed on film that I feel the need to set you right so often! hahaha :)

  5. DEZMOND says:

Now, Naughty Castor, did we really need to see the illustration for point number 4? :)
And, I must admit I’ve felt Univarn’s influence throughout this post, are you sure he’s not your Obi Wan Kenobi, young jedi Castor? :P Off course, by returning your blog from green to yellow colour, you’ve lost the magic protective power of the Grandmaster Dezz, so beware of the evil clones :)

  6. Darren says:

    Thanks for the tag…

And, yes, I agree that white sharks would eat gazelles if they saw any.

    Muahaha LOLZZZ ROFLMAO XOXOXO,
    Darren

  7. What’s the story behind #9? Rudy is a fantastic film (don’t care what anyone else says) and it’s definitely one of my Top 5 sports movies.

  8. Univarn says:

What is a Univarn? HOW DARE YOU QUESTION UNIVARN! BLASPHEMER! :P

    http://mcneilmatinee.blogspot.com/2009/12/midnight-radio-matineecast-episode-3.html

^ was revealed there that Univarn is absolutely nothing, just a word I made up :) .

Unfortunately my bladder disagrees with rule #4. To compensate I always sit aisle seat, near exit if it’s a 2+ hour movie or a jam packed theater. I hate people who wonder around the front distracting others while they attempt to locate the restroom.

  9. shiv says:

number 9 inspired me the most. I can really tell what mood you were in when you wrote this Castor!

However no.4 has to be my favourite. Pee-Pee No-No

  10. Mike Lippert says:

Right on with this list. Rudy pulled on my heart strings too. Sounds like a good collection of movie posters. I only have like 5 (the pains of living with someone else) but I keep my Boogie Nights and La Dolce Vita ones close to my heart. I also agree with 10 which is, needless to say, why I am posting this comment right now.

  11. Heather says:

I literally just spoke aloud and said: Another special project for me? Where’s my helmet!?!?!?!?!?!

Thanks for the tag, I hope I can live up to the massive hatred bubbling beneath your surface. :)

As for the bladder control issue? I admit to having insane control, and this may not be impressive since I am a woman, but for a very pregnant lady that drank an entire large soda during The Two Towers and holding out and then went through the same scenario further on in the pregnancy but with Kill Bill Vol. 1 and I refused to pee. I believe I should have earned some movie goer medal, but I think I should be relieved I just didn’t end up UTI instead. Both films were worth the discomfort.

    • Red says:

Well of course, Heather. Leaving the theater during a LOTR movie is one of the biggest movie sins. I won’t even do it if I am watching it on DVD.

And yeah, I’ve never left the theater to go to the restroom. But then again, I am extremely picky about having to watch movies from start to finish without interruption.

      • Heather says:

Unfortunately having kids makes me use the “pause” button a lot for DVD’s, but I still cannot stand to miss any part of a movie, even a not so great one. :)

  12. Heather says:

And RTM, I haven’t seen The Last Of The Mohicans either.

    • Kaiderman says:

You’re not missing much! Worse Michael Mann movie ever…. and I’ve seen Public Enemies!

    • Castor says:

If there was such thing as a penalty box, you would be in it for that comment Kai!!!!!! ;)

      • Heather says:

You should create a time out section on the site here. I have no logical way to organize this but if you could do it, it would be awesome! Kind of a webbage dunce cap!

    • rtm says:

Glad I’m not the only one, Heather! But Kai, the audacity!! :) I don’t think it can be more boring than Public Enemies, come on, we’re talking about Mr. Daniel Day-Lewis here! Castor, I think my brother will think it’s unforgivable also, it’s one of his favorite movies… and soundtrack.

      • Heather says:

The soundtrack seems even more prevalent in discussion than the movie itself Ruth!

But I agree to a degree. Some movies aren’t for everyone but this seems to be one that is at least respected if not loved.

  13. Kaiderman says:

I didn’t love it! And I don’t think calling it Mann’s worse is really a slight because he makes great films. But even Daniel Day Lewis can’t save this one… sorry. I will say though that my wife loves it and “I will find you!!!” is one of the oft most quoted movie lines in our house. It’s delivered so strangely… up there with Vader’s “NOOOOOO” from Revenge of the Sith!

    • Kaiderman says:

My wife (Editor-In-Chief) is here… here’s her thoughs on Last of the Mohicans:
Yes, Kai is right…I do like the movie..But more in a car wreck kind of way…awesomely bad…I think the part that irks me the most is the underdeveloped love story between Uncas and Alice…mostly told through akward glances at one another…[SPOILER ALERT] then he dies saving her and she throws herself off a cliff…reasons to watch: “I will find you” under the waterfall, and Duncan being burned at the stake…Savages!!

P.S Castor Troy’s a great name but if we’re going with Nick Cage characters I’m a bigger fan of Cameron Poe!!

  14. Jose says:

I don’t pee either. Making it through “Avatar” with a large Coke Zero almost gave me a kidney infection.

  15. Steve says:

You win this round, Castor. But you’ll get yours – probably though the magic of radio…

PS. Last of the Mohicans is a tremendous movie, with one of the best characters in an action film ever: Chingachgook!

Sadly, in the expanded edition on at the 3:30 mark, you can see a freakin’ animal wrangler running around in his stupid orange safety vest behind the elk they’re hunting… Still a great movie despite that completely asinine error.

  16. Olive says:

    Loved L.A. Confidential too:)
Interesting that war movies are the ones you watch the most; can understand Saving Private Ryan..but although Blackhawk Down was an amazing film, don’t think I could watch it over and over again.

  17. LA Confidential and TMNT rock. But then so do Citizen Kane, Holy Grail and 2001.

I saw The Mask five times in the theater. Maybe Jurassic Park too.

I wanna know what number 9 was!

  18. #4 is winner! Seriously, people lack proper theater etiquette nowadays. When I go to see a film in the theater, I go to do just that – see a goodamn film!

Not to munch and crunch on popcorn/burgers and whatnot, or to poison myself with gallons of Coke, and I’m certainly not paying the ticket just to spend time pissing in the restroom. I can do that at home, for free.

  19. Did you forget to take your meds today or something? You seem crazier than usual…

  20. jimbob says:

Hey Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was my earliest memory of a movie as well. Neat O. Ya I also leave terrible comments sometimes. Like this one. I Keep thinking “must.be.more.genuine” alot!

  21. Luke says:

4- Agreed. I have trained myself so well, because I’m not missing a minute. It’s just rude, plain rude.

  22. Japan Cinema says:

You need to add my site to your blogroll :) I enjoy your blog and hope to see you around mine sometime.

    • Castor says:

I would be happy to add you if you add mine ;) I will drop by your blog from now on. I forgot to bookmark your blog the first time I visited it :)
