You just can’t touch Clint Mansell’s work in the 2000′s. The fact that he has 0 oscar nominations. Like any composer there’s a lot of junk films but:

    Moon
    The Wrestler
    The Fountain
    Requiem for a Dream

at least one of those 4 should have gained a nomination. Him and Carter Burwell might need to start their own company to get themselves some nominations.

    • Peter says:

Agreed. The score to Moon is terrific. Not sure what the deal is with that. How Randy Newman’s songs get nominated for always sounding the same, but in the Score category, Mansell is unrecognized. Needs to change soon.

One of my favorite soundtracks in the universe. One of my favorite movies in the universe. It haunts you. Absolutely haunting.

And wow Darren is cleaning up the lead here isn’t he? lol He has so much to say on his own blog I shouldn’t be surprised.

    • Kaiderman says:

Seriously… he tried so hard against us in April and gave up at the end because we were relentless… I say we cheer him on… GO DARREN!!!
Also, I love this movie but can’t hardly watch it cuz it’s so effed up. Although the Connelly scene at the end turns me on… and it shouldn’t… cuz it’s sad!

As if the imagery and the plot of this movie weren’t enough to give you shivers while watching these people spiral helplessly downward, the music is enough to send you over the edge. Not as chilling as the main theme but equally as unsettling…Clint is very quickly joining the ranks of Hans Zimmer, Thomas Newman and James Newton Howard as far as my tastes go.

  4. This was, quite simply put, the scariest movie scene ever. It was probably the scariest simply because of this song.

  5. FRC Ruben says:

    Love it.

Think I’ll go pop a valium and a prozac now.

  6. Fitz says:

Nothing Clint Mansell does could be surpassed when it comes to musical scores.

  7. Kaiderman says:

I caught this the other day and was blown away. I hadn’t noticed it before but it is literally perfect for the accompaning visuals!
Also, I may be losing the comment contest but this is my 2nd suggestion to make it MSOD, so suck it y’all… haha… Thanks, Castor… though I think this was a pretty good one for this!
