Greatest Comedy Tournament: Round 3 Day 3
This is the third round of our Greatest Comedy Tournament and we are already through half of it! Thank you to all of you who have been participating so far, we very much appreciate it. We can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel as we have only 32 movies still in the field and 8 remaining match-ups for this round. To make this more fun, don’t forget to share using the social media icons on the right. The rules for this round will be:
- Four match-ups a day for 4 days
- You can cast a vote every 6 hours (Come back often!)

Whew, some toughies here today.
Airplane over Austin Powers, though that is a fun matchup (and would be a killer double feature).
Spinal Tap vs. Bueller is a rather even one for me. I’ll go with Spinal Tap for my love of the absurd.
Hot Fuzz perfectly aligns with my love for parody. Dumb and Dumber kind of aligns with my love for randomness. Hot Fuzz gets by, though I think I’ll be in the minority.
Still don’t care for Wedding Crashers. Still think Dr. Strangelove is awesome. No contest for me at all there.
Did I wake up on another planet? In what world is Ferris Bueller funnier than Spinal Tap? Nonsense, I say.

Adios Wedding Crashers, it was a good run.
Can’t believe it took this long for them to come up against a real classic.
Funny thing about Dr. Stranglove is that the humor is sly smart but still spaced pretty far apart. I guess that’s where the “dark” part of the comedy comes into play. Still funny as hell despite the longer than desired gaps between the humor. And who thought George C. Scott had a funny side? I guess Kubrick:)
Airplane, Straneglove, Hot Fuzz, and Spinal Tap for me. Spinal Tap is losing I see – can’t believe this and The Apartment could go out. Even in Round 3 that’s a shock!
Who keeps insisting Dumb and Dumberer is genius comedy?
Hot Fuzz VS. Dumb and Dumber… I just don’t care.
Really pulling for one of my all-time favorites, Spinal Tap, but it’s looking doubtful. May I remind you of the song Stonehenge? That should be reason enough to vote for this one!

Oh no! Spinal Tap is out…even a last minute vote won’t help! As much as I like Ferris, Spinal Tap is genius!
