Keep it simple. Love all four, but Airplane and Strangelove get my votes.

  2. Castor says:

Had to go with Airplane and Dr. Strangelove. Hot Fuzz needs to put up more fight though!

  3. Red says:

Bueller and Hot Fuzz. While I liked Airplane, I just don’t get crazy about it like some people do.

  4. Gringo says:

    Airplane and Dr. Strangelove!

  5. Marc says:

I love it but I am really shocked Hot Fuzz got this far. Although now that most every other contender is out of the way, it’s plain to see that these are pretty evenly matched. When you really look at them, they’re more serious than funny and they are dark comedies. I never would have drawn those similarities but I guess chalk it up the Castor and Red running this and everyone’s voting.

Airplane is an easy choice but a stoning awaits me in hell for picking Fuzz. Dalton, Pegg and Frost narrowly take my vote over George C. Scott…I bet he’ll be the first one waiting for me stone in hand:P

  6. Ripley says:

Airplane and Strangelove. Don’t even start with this Bueller business.

I be off for, like, two days, so nobody try and sneak in Dumb and Dumber while I’m gone.

(seriously, my robot spies are on it)

  7. Andrew says:

The two winners here are obvious; I love Hot Fuzz but it’s no Strangelove. And I was never a big fan of Day Off anyways.

  8. This one was actually easier than I thought it would be. Maybe I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue but I HAD to pick Airplane. Quotability, Peter Graves, Leslie Nielson and all the wackiness that is still hilarious today makes it, in my book, a contender to WIN.

And Kubrick=Win although I kinda though Hot Fuzz would be doing better…huh.

  9. Heather says:

C’Mon Ferris Bueller and Hot Fuzz!

  10. Fitz says:

While I love Hot Fuzz it can’t compete with Dr. Strangelove. And Airplane is so quotable that it can’t lose.

  11. Steve says:

Can’t believe it’s come to this. And that I have to sit back and watch my old favourites get eviscerated by the voting public. Why guys? Why!?

  12. Kaiderman says:

First one was tuff but I am one of the few people that didn’t care for either in the 2nd match-up. Went Hot Fuzz and Airplane… mainly cuz my wife’s name is Shirley… think about it.

  13. James Ewing says:

How can Airplane be beating Ferris Bueller? Madness, I tell you, madness! There’s far more complexity to the characters in Ferris Bueller, plus the actors are much better. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Airplane! a lot, I just don’t think it’s a serious contender for the best comedy every.

    Obviously, your readership disagrees.
