- Day 22 (Tuesday): Plan the next step for your blog
Congratulations and many thanks to all of you who have made it through 31DBBB. I hope this has been helpful and has improved your blog and your blogging. The key now is to continue to apply everything that you learned routinely. Today is the last assignment of our 31DBBB project and it is fitting that it was left off for the end because it is forward looking.
Today’s assignment is simply to plan the next step for your blog. This is very useful especially for those of us who seem to aimlessly blog on an inconsistent basis. Darren posted an example of a calendar on his Problogger site.
Planning your blogging should always be something you think about. What am I going to post in over the next week or two? How does each post fit into the bigger picture of what I am trying to achieve on my blog? What can I do to get closer to my goals of global domination? Those are questions you should constantly ask yourself.
Assignment
- Look back at everything we did in the past month in our 31DBBB project and think of ideas you can now incorporate in your blogging
- Make a plan for next month and tell us about it!
Discussion
- What is the next step for your blog?
- Has 31DBBB improved your blogging?
- Have you seen any improvement in terms of traffic, participation etc… on your blog?
31DBBB What’s Next?
- If you would like to go over more 31DBBB exercises, I would recommend you the workbook which you can buy at a discount (Contact us for the coupon code)
- Go over our previous 31DBBB posts and gather ideas you can use as part of your blogging
- Incorporate everything you’ve learned into your blogging. Do not let this go to waste!

Congrats to Steve and thank you Castor for arranging this great event. I haven’t been able to participate fully due to reshaping my blog and moving it. But I’ll make sure to check back on these different tasks and revisiting them on a regular basis.
I have definitively have learned a ton so far!
Glad to hear that Joel! Thank you for your participation
Thanks for having presenting us with the opportunity. It has been very helpful in codifying best practices when creating and maintaining a blog. It has also introduced me to more of my fellow movie bloggers!
Love the calendar by the way – that should be a great way to organize and arrange my thoughts. I often have ideas that I do not follow through on but committing them to a calendar or what not should be a good thing for me.
A calendar is definitely a great way to get you to blog on a more regular and consistent basis.
Congrats to Steve..and finally thanks to Castor for a wonderful training to help us to make a better movie blog. I got new friends from this training. As well as I learn many things which is very essential for a new movie blogger like me. After reading this post, I really love of what I am doing n push me to have some plans on what shall I do for the next month..Once again I thank Castor for this great training. I expect a training like this in Future..All the best to all other friends in our Niche..and take care..cheers
Thanks for participating Mani. Hope to see you around here beyond 31DBBB
I am sure Castor that I will be always in touch with you..Then one more good news. I just include your site in my latest post of Top 10 movie websites – http://www.moviescrunch.com/2010/08/top-10-movie-websites.html I am glad to add your blog in the list…
I need some friends backlink for my blog. So if any friend is interested to do a Link exchange, ping me. I need a set of friends site’s url to put in my sidebar as ‘Friends List’. This helps both the blog to get a good page rank as well as traffic. Cheers
Manikandan: I must be stupid or something, but I don’t understand how to post comments on your blog?
I really loved your post on how to pick movies. I’m totally with you except fo trailers. I try to avoid them and they are never the reason why I choose to see a film.
Thanks again Castor. You made this so easy and great for us. I’m so excited that I found this blog and ton of other great movie blogs! I’ve been so inspired by everyone’s great ideas and I can’t wait to do some of these cool group things. Well one of my main blog goals has been to have one month where I have a new post every day. So I printed out a calendar for September and in only a couple of minutes, I managed to fill in all but seven squares! I know I can easily fill those by going through my notes. Now I just have to write them all! I’ll be following all of you and I hope you’ll stop by the couch from time to time!
Thanks Colleen for your participation, you were one of our most active 31DBBB’er! Keep plugging at your blog and I will try to send you some visitors if there is anything I can link every now and then
Awww! You’re the best Castor! Well, you’ll be seeing me around. Hey yesterday I was thinking maybe we should have some 31DBBB reunions. Maybe in a couple of weeks and then a month, talk about what we have now incorporated on a regular basis. We can share what assignments made our blog better beyond just the 31 days. I know there’s lots of things I’ll do now that I didn’t do before. Just a thought!
Heeeyyyyy!!! Right on! I totally threw myself into this and got so much out of it… it’s pretty much how my father in law describes the Freemasons: you get out what you put into it! Major thanks go out to you guys for putting on such a great workshop – this kind of advice is so incredibly valuable, and now it’s ours! ALL OURS! Mwahahahah!!!
The plan for the future for The Film Cynics is of course to apply what we’ve learned in the best ways possible. I’ll be digging through old posts to update them for the future and getting back into the swing of things in visiting my blogroll (I’ve only really been visiting AM this month- staying focused) and building new relationships and strengthening old ones. I’m still toying with the idea for a new weekly feature – I think it will be “The Tuesday Trio” and you’ll have to stay tuned to find out what the heck it will actually be.
I’ll be in touch soon, Castor. Yeehaw!
Congrats Steve! You did work hard. Enjoy!
Congrats on all the hard work Castor. I think you’ve definitely elevated the content on 75% of LAMBs.
Is it possible to have a follow up on these articles on reader requests? I for instance would love to know more about pingbacks when refreshing posts and how to use trackbacks as optimal as possible?
Another topic could be to suggest great wp plugins for blogs. Would be great to see if there are any that are specific for movieblogs? I’d love to have a boxoffice mojo widget on my sideboard for example.
Castor: What do you think about this?
I will write a post about these question in a week or two. If you any related questions, then feel free to ask them here.
Great! You really are the man.
Would be interesting to hear about advertising on blogs aswell as visiting numbers? Does most movieblog stay around a certain number of visitor etc.
Would like to know more about controlling the related posts section in the end of the post? Its really irregular for me and mixes my posts with those from other blogs. I’d like to control the settings.
Working on those Joel, I will try to post this sometime this weekend
As for the Box Office Mojo widget, there is actually one since I know we used to have one on AM.

Thanks Castor! I’ll totally look into these I wasn’t aware of them at all!
