  1. Anna says:

    “Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?”

“I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!”

    “Just a flesh wound.”

    “NI!”

“What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?”

Do I really need to explain any further why Monty Python deserves to win?

  2. Andrew says:

Holy Grail must win. Airplane is a classic but it’s no legend. Holy Grail is legendary. That’s really all there is to it.

  3. I do not approve… where is my Blazing Saddles????

  4. CMrok93 says:

Both films are easily quoted, but I would have to go with Monty Python. It’s just so much smarter, and when you know people who have seen it, your non-stop quoting it.

  5. Packerken says:

I think the best thing about Holy Grail is how easy it is to laugh at and how young you can be and still get it. There are parts of Airplane that still go over my head (funny as it is). I was laughing hysterically at Holy Grail when I was 10.

  6. Fitz says:

Despite the fine points you all have made I’m going to go with Airplane.

  7. Andrew says:

Looks like this Airplane is going DOWN.

    (hahahahahahah)

  8. James Ewing says:

Gahh, I can’t decide. First time this has happened. I’d have to rewatch both again before being able to decide.

  9. Robert says:

A truly epic matchup! Gah. So intense.

  10. Anna says:

Oh, got another reason for why Monty Python should win:

“She turned me into a newt!”
    “A newt?”
    “…I got better.”

    Love it.

  11. Heather says:

Of course Monty Python is kicking arse. I’m going to clomp around work with kid cups on do my coconut noises! Woohoo!

  12. Peter says:

Great job with this throughout! Nicely done. Still hurting over the tough Annie Hall loss….

  13. Peter says:

surprised at how not close this race is so far

    • Darren says:

Yep, after all this… a little bit of dramatic tension is needed. If this were a film, we’d be cutting frantically and tensely back and forth between the Pythons and the Airplane! cast as they tried to frantically out surreal each other.

Still, there’s no shame in only being “the second best” comedy of all time.

  14. Warren says:

I have never seen Monty Python. I need to add this to my Netflix queue.

  15. Joel Burman says:

What a final pairing? I’ll definitively have to go with Airplane on this one. Most Monthy Python hasn’t aged good at all. They tend to be more of sketch collections. I remember Airplane as hillarious funny in the same way as Naked Gun was… What film eliminated that one btw???

  16. Ripley says:

Monty Python, my dears. Predictable but awesome.

  17. Kaiderman says:

My wife is named Shirley so I gotta go Airplane! And I still say GBusters was robbed!

  18. Will says:

Gotta go with Monty Python here. I don’t think it’s the best, but it’s better than Airplane.

  19. Darren says:

Is it just me, or could you almost have called this match-up from the start? It just seems so… right it boils down to these two.

Anyway, good hustle guys on organising this and putting it all together – you guys have just done an excellent job all summer.

  20. Dan says:

Great ending to a great tournament! I missed out on voting in the final stages but I can’t argue with Holy Grail. So the Brits won in the end! hehe!

  21. Eric says:

Wow, I wish I had been around for this tournament. Looks like a lot of fun… you guys oughta do something similar this summer. Maybe action movies?
