On a weekend vacation trip to Point Reyes National Seashore in California a couple (Jason & Emmanuelle) with their best friend (Michelle) encounter the keeper of the Lighthouse (Billy). A solitary man kind of a philosopher with whom they discuss about his life and how he chosed to be apart of society and live a in reclusive lifestyle. Shortly after their discussion Jason and Michelle couldn’t find Emmanuelle anywhere near the lighthouse. She said she was going for a walk. They look everywhere with Billy. They try to call her to find her cellphone is in Jason’s car. There is no clue where she could have been. Suicide? The cliff is high and steep. Kidnapping? There were few tourists around. They go for the second option: hope.

Jason and Michelle report to the police but no without any clue or evidence the case is not taken seriously. Convinced that she is still alive they interview every shop and gas station clerks around. Finally, at Bear Valley’s Visitor Center Barney, a ranger, has seen the person they ask for and he can describe the car she was in. With only the hope of the description of a car the two friends embark on a journey to recover their missing friend.

This trip will take them not only through Emmanuelle’s destiny but also on their own destiny together. From North California to San Diego they will follow the few clues they could find on Emmanuelle’s path.

  1. Castor says:

Intriguing start of a pitch. It would definitely help to have details and background especially on Emmanuelle so there is more clues as to how/why she disappeared. Does Billy have anything to do with it?

  2. Ripley says:

    Mystery, horror, thriller, romance? All?

  3. Clarabela says:

I like it so far, but what happens next?

  4. Well it will be more like a Road-movie. Sometimes thriller sometimes romance drama. I will get more info tomorrow night now I pretty busy at work… But I promise to give you more meat when I come back!

  5. What happens next: The searchers are driving along the Californian coastal Road 1 heading South. They stop at every gas station asking for the car and showing pictures of Emmanuelle. With few clues but strong intuition they will get to San Diego. By pure chance they will see Emmanuelle’s silhouette in an alley near the Gaslamp quarter.

Meanwhile, the search has been exhausting and Jason and Michelle have slowly got into each other but the hope and the moral line of finding Emmanuelle kept them apart.

With the help of Michelle’s elder sister, Jean, an archivist, the discover where Emmanuelle’s been hiding for the last month.

The searchers finally arrive in front of Emmanuelle’s door. Just before knocking at the door they cross eyes with the other, smile, and finally kiss. And then they turn their back on Emmanuelle’s door and go back where they came from.

As an epilogue, Jason gets back to his home and discovers a letter from Billy the lighthouse keeper. It’s a letter written by Emmanuelle to Billy, telling him the Billy’s encounter opened Emmanuelle’s eyes on how she should live her life the way she wanted to and not get influenced by others and/or society. Telling that she has to be lonely for a while and become a stronger person.

  6. Can I just say that I’ve been laughing for the last five minutes at “Matthew Perry: Barney the Park Ranger”

Regardless, this seems like a quirky little adventure mystery. I love it. Who is your director?

But then… I’ll see anything with Michelle Williams in it………. *swoon*

  7. Thanks! I’d love to cast Perry and yes this makes me laugh too!

My director is Sofia Coppola, I thought she’d had the perfect touch to this road movie story.
