I’m probably just too slow to figure it out, but I can’t get the poll to work.
My vote is for Carey Mulligan by far. With Emma Stone in second.
Yes, it’s a problem that happens when there is the same poll twice on the same page. Sorry about that. Your vote should have been counted though so all is fine. Thanks for letting me know about the issue, I simply deleted the poll at the bottom of the post and redirect everyone to vote in the sidebar
Ha! I was going to comment on the poll not working xD Luckily I read!
Let’s see who I think you’re missing… xD
- Evan Rachel Wood
and Olivia Thirbly xD
Some of the ones that didn’t make it to my top10 list between 20-25 were:
- Jena Malone, but I guess she might be older than 25 now, right?
Ahah thanks Amy. Yes, the poll might not display that you voted (it displays in the sidebar instead) but it counted your votes
Yes we thought of Evan Rachel Wood but ended up not putting her on the poll. I like Jena Malone but she has a pretty low key profile so I don’t know if she would get too many votes.
I’m with Amy on this one. I’m casting a write-in vote for Olivia Thirlby. Girls got skills.
I haven’t seen much of these actresses, None of them is my favorite…but I still vote, Ellen Page is the one I know the most.
This is a tough one. I buy into Lively more since The Town, but not enough to go full on supporting her. Mulligan has the most broad appeal, but I have only seen 2 of her films. I’m going with Stone because she has that combination of charm, wit, toughness, sex appeal, and self humor that gives her the ability to stay in Hollywood a long time.
Page, I love, but in a bad film she can be dull, and seems to be stuck in auto pilot as of late.
I went with Emma Stone myself, good pick!
I voted for Kristen Stewart, and not because of Twilight. I prefer her other performances. My second choice would be Gemma. The rest I am not sure have what it takes to stick around. Carey is nice and the critics like her but she comes off as too dull for me.
I voted for Emma Stone and used my other computer to vote for K-Stew. I think they both are good and I’d like to see them do a movie together. I’ve only seen Emma in Easy A and I can turn on the TV anytime and see K-Stew age. She’s been doing movies since she was ten. I hope Emma gets the Spiderman movie and want to see Kristen turn into a vampire in Breaking Dawn.
Is it how Twilight ends? Because I haven’t read the book and you might have spoiled it for me ahaha
I was torn between Ellen and Carey (they were the only ones I’ve actually seen act). Considering I’ve seen Ellen in two movies (Juno and Inception) and Carey in one (An Edication), I ultimately went with Ellen.
It seems like you are voting in a losing cause
Last time I checked a couple hours ago, Emma Stone was ahead but it seems like K-Stew fans have awoken.
Same for me Anna. It was down to those two, and Page seems to be a bit more versatile than Mulligan so far. Although it was down to those two, I think a couple years down the road it will be Lively or Lawrence. I love the direction those girls are heading.
Whoa. I totally did not see that coming. Kristen Stewart being the top pick? I thought Twilight would throw people off. Guess not.
BTW, Castor, do you plan on doing one for the men?
Absolutely, in a few days Anna. Nominate some if you would like
The only two I can think of are Andrew Garfield and Jeremy Renner.
Renner is probably a little old for Castor’s taste…he likes em younger…haha.
Red knows me all too well
Urgh..it’s so hard to pick! I like them all(except a couple or more). I like Emma Watson but either Carey Mulligan, Ellen Page, Amanda Seyfried or Emma Stone, is going to really make it big in the movie industry, imo. :\
That is an encouraging thought though, yes?
Blake LIVELY??? How is she even eligible? (Not to be mean, right…)
She was in The Town
Was she good in it, she has one expression of general confusion most of the time I see her.
She was surprisingly good Andrew. The vast majority of critics and bloggers praised her performance.
I can’t believe that I am actually typing this, but I actually liked her more in The Town then I did Rebecca Hall…and in my eyes Hall has pretty much upstaged everybody else in all her other movies, so it’s not as if I dislike Hall.
I know Castor and myself don’t really take television into much consideration in our posts around here, but that’s where Lively has made most of her noise, and I think she has a bright future ahead of her if she chooses to do more films in the future, though it looks like The Green Lantern is the only one on her current schedule.
“but I actually liked her more in The Town then I did Rebecca Hall…”
Oh, no you didn’t xD I’ll take your word for it.
It’s gotta be Carey Mulligan! Is Emma Watson really still an upcoming star? She’s been super famous for years now. Same with Ellen Page I suppose.
I honestly don’t get the obsession with Blake Lively. I’ve never seen her in anything but everyone is always posting pics of her and its driving me insane. She looks so average to me!
But what has Watson done aside from Harry Potter? I’m just not familiar with her work aside from Hermione, and frankly of the three BFF’s I feel like she’s grown the least as an actor. I pretty much ditto everything you said about Page and Blake Lively as well!
I don’t know anything that Watson has done besides Harry Potter. This might be mean, but I don’t really feel like she is an actress. She is a great Hermione but I personally would be fine never seeing her in anything else. The guy playing Ron on the other hand I would love to see in more films!
Actually Emma Watson didn’t do anything else beside Harry Potter.
Such a tough call. I went with Mulligan for now, mostly because I just saw her in “The Greatest,” and her delightful performance is staying with me. I plan to see her in the “Wall Street” sequel this weekend.
First off, I just want to say what a cool site this is. I am a member of a Kristen Stewart fan community, so I get asked to vote for her all the time. Usually, they are stupid polls that I care nothing about. Today I got your link in my email box. I came here thinking it was going to be another tween like obsession blog but I was wrong. You have been bookmarked and I will be contributing on other subjects.
This is going to be semi long. It’s late and I have insomnia so please bear with me. There are very few young actresses that impress me and hold my interest for years at a time. It’s a very interchangeable bunch. I remember my brother renting Hackers on DVD when I was younger. That was the first time I ever saw Angelina Jolie in a movie. She stood out among all the others. I think I was like 10, but I recognized that she was different. The second time was when I saw Natalie Portman in The Professional. I knew that she would be big one day and just like Angie it has happened. Kristen Stewart is the last time I saw this ‘thing’ in any actress. The first film I saw her in was Speak. She was 14 but she had such a maturity about her. I later found out she was the little girl from Panic Room and went back to watch all her movies.
Yes, Kristen is in Twilight but it doesn’t define her whole scope as an actress. The fact that she turned down money from the Summit executives and cut her hair to play Joan Jett really showed me commitment. Adventureland, The Runaways, and Welcome to the Riley’s have all been well received critically and KS singled out. KS has also had roles that require her to sing and play guitar. Everyone loves to make fun of the Twilight saga but it is the highest grossing female led franchise of all time. All of these actresses are older than KS but none of them have as varied a resume as she does. Playing Marylou in On the Road is a very smart move for her. That is why she gets my vote.
The other actresses are good in their own rite. I haven’t seen enough of Carey Mulligan to judge. Ellen Page could be really good if she gets that Hard Candy edge back. Amanda Seyfried, and Emma Stone seem more suited for pretty girl roles, although I think Emma has more wiggle room. Emma Watson is in college. She may quit acting and just enjoy her large amount of money. I didn’t know who Jennifer Lawrence was before this article so I will need to see more. Blake Lively hasn’t done enough for me to judge. You left off Anna Kendrick. I think she could be a great comedy actress.
For the men you would have to go older because I can’t think of any good male actors between 20-25. For 25-30 I would suggest Garrett Hedlund KS costar in On the Road and the upcoming Tron movie. This post was long and rambled. Sorry in advance.
Welcome to the site, Nicole. Never any need to apologize for the length of your reply. The more, the better.
I will have to say that up until the Twilight movies, I was a pretty big Stewart supporter. She’s gained some of that back with the likes of The Runaways, and I hope that she can seperate herself from the Twilight franchise once it gets over. Her performances in Panic Room, Into the Wild, and Adventureland have all impressed me, although I will admit that the Into the Wild performance now seems like the same characterization she aims for in Twilight.
Jennifer Lawrence is definitely somebody to keep an eye out for. She’s bound for an Oscar Nomination this year for Winter’s Bone, which I just watched this weekend, and I thought it was maybe the best movie so far this year. She is also going to be in the next X-Men movie, so that should get her a bit more mainstream appeal.
I could’ve sworn that Kendrick was on the list, but I think maybe she was one of the final people to get cut off just like Evan Rachel Wood.
Agreed that the men are much difficult. We are doing Top 25 lists of actors/actresses 35 and under, and the ladies were much easier to think of. Hudlund looks like he is about to finally break out into something bigger than just the supporting actor he’s been. The only thing that I ever remember him from is Four Brothers.
Thanks Nicole for the kind praises. Comments like yours make all the effort and time we put into our blog worth it!
I think Kristen Stewart career as an actress will get a second life once the Twilight franchise is over. Welcome to the site, we hope to see you around
Thanks! How long will you be running this poll?
Most likely until Thursday evening
Well, now we can see the main two contenders. Both ladies are in huge franchises so it makes sense. If Emma Watson and Kristen Stewart stopped acting today and used their money wisely, they’d have enough to live off of for a lifetime. I know Emma has said she doesn’t know if acting is for her. Kristen says she loves acting and would like to write. I wonder where all these modern day starlets will end up.
Jennifer Lawrence THE BEST!!!
I’m going to give the edge to Emma Stone, but just a hair above Amanda Seyfried. I see Seyfried having a long career and having more diversity, but there is something so charming and likable about Stone that I truly want her to succeed.
Am I the only person who just isn’t blown away by Ellen Page?
I don’t know, I haven’t seen enough of Amanda Seyfried to make any real opinion of her. The main problem is that she hasn’t been in any good movie except for Mean Girls. I recently saw Dear John and Chloe where she was competent but not all that memorable in my opinion. Wait and see I guess…
I voted for Emma Stone. She seems to be a natural born comedian but it would be nice to see her in some heavier drama and see more range and depth out of her.
A war is brewing, Emma Watson fans are on the offensive this morning
I’ve got to go with Page. Inception, Hard Candy, and Juno trump most of the work of the other actresses (excluding Mulligan).
ditto, Fitz. Juno and Hard Candy alone do it for me.
I voted for Carey but I was very impressed by Blake Lively in The Town. That girl has a bright career ahead of her. She is like a more affable Gwyneth Paltrow. Agree with Nicole, Anna Kendrick is one talented young starlet.
I’ll agree with you on Kendrick, but where is all the love coming from for Lively? She played a skank for the most part and the only scene that she made a decent attempt at was the hotel scene.
Let’s face it, it’s not very hard to seem more affable than Ms. Paltrow…
I decided to abstain from voting … too many solid choices. I have always liked Carey Mulligan – in fact she is in one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes (“Blink’). Also a fan of Ellen Page. I have a soft spot for Emma Watson because of the HP Series – waiting to see what else ends up on her filmic CV. Amanda Seyfried … Gemma Arterton … like I said too many choices!
It will be a pleasure to see the journeys these young women take into the future.
Carey Mulligan easily blows away this entire list with a single performance in An Education. If she doesn’t end up being the next Audrey Hepburn I’ll probably eat my stress ball; she just has it. What she does with it is up to her, and I hope she does more things like Never Let Me Go than Wall Street 2.
I do not, never have, and probably never will understand the adulation for Stewart; she has been legit great in one movie (Adventureland) and serves as a charisma vortex in almost all of her others, sucking all of the light and energy out of every scene she’s in. I’d like to believe that she can break out of her Twilight school of non-acting and do good things with her life. That said, I will not hold my breath– and besides, a really good actress would have done something interesting with Twilight. Stewart does not. If I’m bringing the comments section down, I apologize, but I can’t be anything less than blunt here.
Watson’s talented for certain but she’s in the same position as Stewart in terms of needing to separate herself from her franchise (and she may be in a worse position just because Harry Potter enjoys wider audiences and a much more enduring franchise). She should follow her co-star’s lead, if she hasn’t already, and earn herself some credibility outside of her comfort zone.
I respectfully disagree about Kristen Stewart Andrew. Go download a Twilight script. Meryl Streep couldn’t have done anything with that movie. Actually I wouldn’t put Adventureland as her best movie. The Runaways, Kerouac’s On the Road, and Welcome to the Rileys are Kristen Stewart separating herself from Twilight. She is 20 years old. I can see a future for her and any of the women in that franchise as far easier then the men. Carey Mulligan is a good actress but as I said she comes off as dull. That could change if I see her in more films.
By separating herself I mean making a name for herself outside of the Twilight franchise. She has other projects lined up because she’s a young actress who stars in a bankable franchise; that’s not a surprise. My point is that whatever she does, Stewart will always be thought of as a star of Twilight unless she can make herself so memorable in her future endeavors that her stint on the Twilight series is forgotten. She needs to reinvent herself, in other words– and find her talent.
This site so nice i love it
