  1. Joel Burman says:

Dan Ankroyd working on the ghostbusters script? Doesn’t feel terribly good.

    • Kaiderman says:

      I kinda like that!

      • Marc says:

Again I think I’m with you Joel. He wrote the storyline for the Ghostbusters video game and that seemed pretty uninspired as it didn’t cover that much new ground/material. Still the argument could be made that “it was just a game” but it was rather thin.

I think the only reason II is looked at fondly after all these years is that we’ve had time to accept it. As much as I LOVE Ghostbusters, I’m not looking forward to it especially after the geriatric fiasco that was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

OK I’m off my soap box now, sorry for the rant:P

    • Darren says:

      No Murray? No deal.

  2. amy says:

    Two Michelle Williams items?! xD

She actually looks kinda good as Monroe, and I’m still dying to see Blue Valentine. I wonder why it’s NC17 though. O_o

  3. Univarn says:

We had a bit of fun with the trailer for And Soon the Darkness on the latest LAMBCast, which I think goes up some time next week? Was my first one so I’m not exact on the turnaround.

Faster looks meh, but I think the Red Band shows most of the film.

I read via one of my fellow tweeters (can’t remember who or I’d link) that the scene that earned Blue Valentine its NC-17 is rather important to the film.

I was a bit skeptical about Michelle Williams as Marilyn, but the photo does do her justice. My worry lies in them making the film about her, such an over the top persona, without it being comically so.

  4. Fitz says:

Akroyd working on Ghostbusters 3 makes more sense to me than the guys who wrote Year One.

  5. Ripley says:

It’s so cute, seeing Harry and Ron grow stubble.

    Thanks for the the link.

  6. Kaiderman says:

    Thanks for the link, Castor!
So many things on here but the 2 things sticking in my craw are that:
    1. I NEED PRIDE & PREJUDICE & ZOMBIES. And…
2, Michelle Williams is a horrible choice for MM. She looks nothing like her!

  7. rtm says:

WOW, you’ve been a busy little bee, Castor! Lots of stuff to comment on… but here goes:

    • I was curious to see what they’ll do with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but not sure that thing will get off the ground
    • Glad to see Idris Elba’s career is going somewhere, but PLEASE, why Ghost Rider 2??!
    • Those are some gritty character posters for HP7, clearly this ain’t for kids anymore. I kinda like the ones they released not too long ago (i.e. http://www.impawards.com/2010/harry_potter_and_the_deathly_hallows_part_i_ver2.html) but it kinda reminds me a bit of Inception’s
    • My excitement for The Tourist is wearing down fast as they still haven’t shown ANY glimpse of either Rufus Sewell or Timothy Dalton [sigh]
    • Night Catches Us premiered at TCFF as well last week, alas I was working that day I couldn’t er, catch it :(

  8. Jose says:

OMG that remake of “El Secreto de sus Ojos” sounds like the devil’s plan. It makes me just sad how unimaginative Hollywood is getting.

  9. Red says:

    - The fact that they’ve went from Jolie to Portman and now possible Bullock for Gravity is just disturbing.

    - While I doubt he takes it, I hope Aronofsky goes with Wolverine 2…I want to see Affleck take gangster squad.

    - Elba jokes around in the Blade post about expanding with another role in the Marvel universe and then gets brought on for the Ghost Rider movie…that’s more than likely the role he knew he was getting, and just wanted to twist peoples arm and bring up Blade/Cage.

    - Other than maybe True Grit and the first Potter film, The Way Back might be might most anticipated movie left this year. Looks like a wonderful epic, and it’s gotten wonderful reviews so far.

    • Castor says:

Gravity is so screwed. Portman passing up is nothing surprising because this isn’t really her type of movie but the fact that they can’t get a leading lady is bad augur.

  10. With respect to Idris Elba, there’s one man I’d like to see even more in the role of Blade – Michael Jai White. The return of The Rock is finally here – and in a hard-R rated action flick, no less! A delight, isn’t it? Plus, Clint Mansell will score the music. Can’t wait for this one!

And as much as I was looking forward to the Ultramarines, I’ll be the first to admit this, so far, looks like shit. I have no fear for the script, for it was written by Dan Abnett, the author of Black Library’s most praised WH novels… but the animation is… ugh… just ugly.

    • Castor says:

Jai White as Blade would be totally awesome and a much better pick than Elba. I’m just glad The Rock is finally making a movie worth his presence. Welcome back The Rock!

      • Darren says:

That’s Mr. The Rock to you.

And I like Idris Elba, I think he deserves a shot at leading man status (which, sadly, Michael Jai White had and lost – save Black Dynamite, of course).

  11. Dan says:

Greta to see the Burke and Hare trailer. Looking forward to this one. Good cast and nice to see John Landis back behind the camera. Hopefully the film will be a lot better than his recent efforts. I don’t think Landis has made a good film for 20 years so the jury is out but this looks like a good one.

  12. Red says:

Oh, and thank Heavens that at least the first Deathly Hallows isn’t being changed to 3D….I’m still hopeful that it doesn’t happen for The Hobbit, but with the budget that it’s gonna have, Warner Bros and others will demand that 3D be available.

    • rtm says:

Yeah, why ruin a potentially good film with abhorrent 3D treatment?? After seeing the botched Clash of the Titans 3D, I’m not wasting my $ on movies that aren’t made with 3D technology to begin with.

  13. Novroz says:

I love to see Simon Pegg and Andy serkis’s movie…but doubtful it’ll be here, DVD is i\my only hope

  14. Luke says:

Oh my god – are they kidding with the Hulk thing?? I mean, yes, the Norton go of it was a vast improvement on the first attempt, and I’m very excited about the Ruffalo addition, but how much do you want to bet they’ll start with the origin story once again to catch up people who avoided the first two stabs at it? Ugh. They maybe should just let this one die.

    • Darren says:

I actually kinda dug way that Norton’s movie dealt with the origin. “Look, you’re going to be watching credits anyway, so here’s the origin for the five people in the world who don’t get the Banner/Hulk thing playing in the background.”
