Carrey Mulligan in a Great Gatsby adaptation is just too perfect for words.
At this point The Muppets movie might be my most anticipated of the decade. I’m almost not joking at all.
Can’t say I’ve watched a tons of Muppets, but they brought on Gaga, so they have my full attention.
I agree, Mulligan’s going to make people jealous snatching up all the good roles!
So much great news! Amazing don’t know where to start.
Anyone know a good memorial post on Dino De Laurentis?
Joel, this one is pretty good.
Thanks!
Why is news always so abysmal?
There are quite a few trailers coming out the next couple days that should spice things ups. Saw a little bit of footage of The Green Lantern, whose trailer is being attached to HP, and it looked bloody awful. Let’s hope the actual trailer leaves a better taste.
I don’t think The Green Lantern is going to be a big sell… at least not outside the US. Between Thor, Cpt. America and Lantern – isn’t he the least known?
Reynolds’ got a tough sell.
More pressure with his recent Sexiest Man Alive title announced today.
VERRRRY excited for Jane Eyre… Michael Fassbender sure makes a fine Rochester. That’s for sure in my top 5 anticipated movie of 2011!
Major meh on the Eagle… and too bad Mark Strong is recycling his baddie role again. I just don’t get the appeal of Channing Tatum.
Cowboys & Aliens… and James Bond
The cast is intriguing but I’ll wait to see the trailer before I can make up my mind how I feel about this flick.
Jane Eyre definitely looks interesting. Although, I would admit, anything that Fasssbender does from now on instantly falls into that category. He’s set to work with McQueen here shortly again, as well.
Yep, did you see the recent poster of it? http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Shame-Poster.jpg
Timeless, The Great Gatsby, and Red Riding Hood have my attention! So much news to take in! I like! Nice post Cap!
Very interesting cast for the new Wes Anderson project. Willis doesn’t excite me as mush as McDormand, Swinton and Murray. The ladies maybe will be able to create som Burn After Readish kind of feeling, while Murray always is funny to watch. The three has potential to entertain. Now it’s up to Wes..
Any news regarding the plot?
I looked at that cast and was amazed. Saw that the movie was being made my Wes Anderson, and was severely disappointed. Not saying Anderson is horrible, but I’m just not in his camp.
I’m a bit outside his camp. Can’t really trust him enough to get in. But Tenenbaums was fun and it had a killer cast. Maybe lightning strucks twice..
I’ve never been a big fan of Wes Anderson’s work so far. Hey Pladd, thanks for dropping by and welcome to AM! We really appreciate your readership and participation
I’ve got a so-so relationship with Anderson’s – The first film by him I ever saw was Tenenbaums, which I absolutely loved. I mean, there’s no losing with a character with a wooden finger.
Some of his other works, I’ve liked okay. Life Aquatic, Darjeeling Limited, Mr. Fox – They were fine, but definitely not as in love with them.
After reading the link I got little hench of the plot. Can’t say it got me.
Am so looking forward to Jane Eyre. Like rtm, think Fassbender is a great choice for Mr. Rochester. I wonder if it will live up to the recent BBC version with Toby Stephens, now there was a dashing Rochester if ever I did see one, hehe.
Sorry Olive but I actually don’t like Stephens’ JE version… plus the adaptation isn’t too faithful to the book. I like this one as it feels modern whilst staying true to the book. My fave JE to this day is the Timothy Dalton version
I think the main reason I’m looking forward to Jane Eyre is because I’ve never read the book. Ha. Cliff Notes in film form!
Ralph Fiennes looks really handsome there. haven’t seen him in a while.
You should see the movie, The Constant Gardener, Nov. It’s a great, heart-wrenching thriller. Yeah, he looks pretty handsome in it
I have the book on my shelf, I want to read that 1st before finding the movie.
The last time I saw him is in Clash of The Titans, he wasn’t handsome there but awesomely cool. He has stolen the show from Sam.
Yep, he’s pretty much the only one doing real acting! But of course he doesn’t look handsome in there, I mean, he is Hades!
As much as Zoolander is one of the last silly comedies that I can wholeheartedly laugh in all its silly, I don’t want a sequel.
And the trailer for Red Riding Hood makes me feel like it’s like Twilight with Brother’s Grimm art direction. Hot Topic’s going to make good business.
The creator of Paranormal Activity doing a film based on dark Poe material–that could be very interesting.
Jonathan Nolan with yet another script that somebody other than his brother will direct. Should be interesting to see how that works out (along with the Spielberg Interstellar thing). I think Jonathan is a great writer. I think when working with Chris, they are brilliant together. It’ll be interesting to see how well other directors present his material.
The Woman in Black could be nice. I think Daniel really needs this movie to do well if he’s to get out of that Harry Potter thing. He’s a good actor, but unless he finds something soon that garners him some critical acclaim and sets him apart from the Potter franchise, he may find himself eventually condemned to always be “Harry Potter” rather than Daniel Radcliffe.
By the way, CASTOR…Carey Mulligan isn’t just the frontrunner…she’s officially been given the spot. http://www.couchpotatoclub.com/2010/11/carey-mulligan-cast-as-the-great-gatsbys-daisy-buchanan/
