  1. Univarn says:

Seeing Daniel Day Lewis in Lincoln with Spielberg I believe could cause a rift in the space-time continuum. No world can handle an Oscar Bait film of that magnitude!

By the way, the Karl Urban photo from Judge Dredd defines why that movie is pointless. I love Urban but if you’re just going to camp it up again, nobody can camp better than Stallone, that’s asking for trouble.

    • rtm says:

Ha..ha.. that’s so true about DDL, Univarn. And man, even in that photo he’s already got that Lincoln look. As my friend Sam from Banana Oil Movies said, might as well just ship him his Oscar now.

As for Dredd… I’m kinda um, dreading that when Urban took on that role. I love Urban so I’m gonna reserve my full judgment (man, pardon all the puns!) until I see the trailer.

  2. Joel Burman says:

“Malin Åkerman replaces Lindsay Lohan in Linda Lovelace biopic”

This is great role for Malin. She needs to break out of the cute picture perfect rom com roles and this sounds like the project to do that!

    • Castor says:

Akerman needs to break out period. She must be the most unremarkable young actress in Hollywood these days. Guess that will change quickly with this role lol

    • amy says:

Akerman… only seen her in Watchmen, which was an average role in a film that’s more remarkable for its art direction and oh those luscious shots xD

Not like I was any interested in the Linda Lovelace biopic, but I thought it was time for Lohan to get the boot from the project. It’s almost a bad producer decision to have stuck with her for so long.

      • Joel Burman says:

Wouw whats with the Malin hate. You know she is half Swedish right??? =)
I agree that she hasn’t really shown that much so far. I think this role can change it.

She made an interesting note in a swedish interview how different it is after breaking big in commercial films, all of a sudden there is a flood of offers coming her way compared to the hard years she had at the beginning.
It seem like a snowball effect and I think it works this way to much, at least its a problem with domestic swedish films where we have a few leads doing a majority of the leading roles.

        • amy says:

Oh, I didn’t know that. I figured since people said she’s Canadian, that her family was from Sweden not that she was born there.

Still, I haven’t seen her in anything else other than Watchmen. I’m thinking is tougher to be blond in Hollywood. At least it seems Hollywood is having a big of a thing for fairy-like girls with actresses like Carey and Mia.

          • Joel Burman says:

She was born in Sweden to swedish parents but then relocated to Canada and grew up there. Her parents split up and the dad moved back to sweden.

She would have a hard time doing a Swedish film (the exception would be playing Victoria Silvstedt in a biopic maybe)due to her strong english accent. Its really cute hearing her speak swedish and she did a great “sommar radio program” (a monolouge kind of talksow where famous people tell stories from their life etc. on radio) about her struggle as an actress before breaking through.

I think the blonde has become the typical sidekick part in films nowadays. Malin has been cast that way especially in Romcoms but not as a villain which is also very common for blondes.

          • Ripley says:

Mia’s blonde. In fact, most fairy-girls are blonde. It’s really just the haircut. ANd the tininess.

    • Ripley says:

I would’ve preferred Lohan…I mean, Malin Akerman is so bland.

  3. Joel Burman says:

That Red Riding Hood looks very twilightish. I am normally a big fan of Amanda Seyfried but I might skip this one.

  4. rtm says:

Howard Shore to score The Hobbit, is that even news?? Surely Jackson wouldn’t have gone with Daft Punk.

Really curious about that ‘Pan’ project with Ben Hibbon. His animated sequence of the Deathly Hallows origin on HP7 was really spectacular.

  5. amy says:

Okay… am I the only one with a saturation of Carey Mulligan? Girl must be careful, we must not get sick of her.

Also… do we need to remake Carancho???? Not like it was awesome or bad – it’s just so blah.

  6. amy says:

I always read (from a Canadian blogger… cough*Lainey*cough) that Canadians don’t love their stars until they are accepted in the US… very unlike France, where they like their stars, once they hit it big in America – cough*Marion*cough – they don’t like them anymore. xD

by the way Castor, did u watch Karate Kid?

    • Castor says:

I did! I haven’t written the review yet but I thought it started slow but nicely built up into the ending. Nothing memorable but it’s effectively entertaining. And damn, I never thought I would ever see Jackie Chan crying!

  7. Novroz says:

    as always, great post :)
Looking forward to watch Paul, i just finished rewatching Shaun of the Dead, I love this dynamic duo

  8. Manikandan says:

Dicaprio as FBI,,sounds intersting. Also expecting more from Spielberg upcoming projects…Wow there is a lot of treat for Movie lovers on upcoming years. Great to watch. Cheers :)

  9. Nicholas says:

So Zoe Saldana’s gonna go all Charlie Bronson, eh? What does it say about me that I’m kind of excited to see that?

  10. COLOMBIANA: This has me really interested. I hope Luc Besson delivers on the script; and it should be alright. I’d prefer a dirty/gritty approach instead of a mindless action flick.

JUDGE DREDD: Oh, go, I’m excited! I loved the Sly Stallone’s version, the way I love cheesy action flicks. But, just like with Colombiana, I hope they take a less cheesy and more gritty approach to it.

13 & THE MECHANIC: Jason Statham… the man is an action god! May he live long and prosper and blow many more things up.
