- Ruben Fleischer in talks to direct crime thriller Tales From The Gangster Squad (Deadline)
“The film is set in the 40s and 50s and is the fact-based tale by a squad of elite Los Angeles officers who fought organized crime kingpins like Mickey Cohen. It has been compared in tone to period crime films like The Untouchables and L.A. Confidential.”
- Alex Proyas developing sci-fi flick AMP (Deadline)
Nicolas Cage talks about the difference between first and upcoming Ghost Rider movies (io9)
“The first one, which I won’t denigrate — I liked the first one, but it was almost like a fairy tale. Almost like a Disney fairy tale interpretation of Faust. This one is completely re-conceived, it’s not even connected to the first one, it’s a different origin sequence. But I think it will be a brand new experience. It has more adrenaline involved in the film making process itself, and in the movie when you see it. Again, I think the stuff we’re able to get into with Ghost Rider is going to be a lot more abstract and not like anything you’ve seen before. So I’m very excited by it.”

That’s why Gosling was let go? Seriously!
I know, right? It’s ridiculous.
I really wish Gosling would, you know, live up to the promise of his talent. He ain’t done shit lately (that I’ve seen, anyhow). And I’m in the “Lars and the Real Girl” sucked camp, btw.
There’s another GHOST RIDER? ugh
Love the trailer for THE BEAVER. Very melancholy!
BTW, Castor. I took your advice on the Cinematic Captions feature and am making it interactive. People will compete for the wittiest phrase to go with the picture I select. First post goes up tomorrow (Tuesday). Head on over and take part. Thanks.
Awesome! Looking forward to it Sebastian
I share your sentiment about Ghost Rider. Ugh is right. How they’d ever greenlight such an abominable is beyond me!
IT’S ON, BITCHES.
I like caption competitions. Leave me alone.
The Beaver looks so good. I just hope it gets a release soon, because Gibson really doesn’t deserve a little bit of respect for what he does when it comes to films.
People can say whatever they want about Mel Gibson, and yes he may be somewhat insane, but I think he is a great actor. This looks very good. I hope that it is. I look forward to seeing it.
I look forward to The Beaver myself. The script is excellent and I’m quite sure Mel Gibson gives a fantastic performance.
As always…great news from aroud the net in one post. Ths Castor.
I’m curious about Tron, haven’t seen good colosal movie in a while.
I shall hope it’ll be colossal in storyline also, Nov, more than just eye candy.
I hope so too. I think the last collosal movie I’ve seen was from Hongkong, played by Chow Yun Fat but somehow I can’t remember the title.
Not sure if you reported this already, Castor, but I’m excited for District 9 reunion of Neill Blomkamp and Sharlto Copley in another sci-fi Elysium. Sounds terrific, though I’m still hoping for a follow-up to D-9.

That movie sounds like something I’ll watch…then again I will watch any movie by Sharlto
So what’s the deal about TRON?
The trailer got me really hyped, and the reviews I’ve read seem good… but then they all start with “Being a fan of the first one” or something like that.
My expectation is visual candy @_@
I’m gearing myself up for the Beaver merchandising movement. How long before I’ll be able to get my own beaver puppet?
Uh, now. You just have to go to a special store.
Oh, god, the Beaver trailer looks so shameless.
That Robert Downey Jr. musical smells suspiciously like Camp.
My problem with the whole premise of This Means War is that, once again, Reese Witherspoon is playing the object of affection for two competing so-and-so’s. This is either extreme narcissism on her part, and/or everybody is seeing in her something I don’t.
Reese is playing the same character every time now. So disappointing
Yep, Hollywood keeps rewarding actors who do that. I mean, she’s becoming another version of Aniston which is a pity as she could do better. Y’know what I notice, she has the same type of hair in every film now too. Bad sign.
I didn’t know Cage was still playing Ghost Rider. I thought they recast/reboot it.
I think Cage too should reboot himself and take a look back at his career. Even with such huge talent, he seems to be modeling his career on Steven Seagal.
