Alexander Payne“Centering on a father and son dynamic, “Nebraska” is about an aging alcoholic father who thinks he’s won a million dollar Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes prize. Captain America

“The movie is going to be something more than people are expecting. This movie is going to surprise some people. It is the origin story of Captain America but it is also something rare — it’s a period superhero film but there’s great action in it. You don’t normally think of guys driving around in 1939 sedans in an action film but there are some great action beats in it. It’s just a helluva lot of fun to watch.”

X-Men: First Class has had a rather large foul stench for some time now, and I’m thinking this pictures are just piling on the rotted milk. At the moment I’m rating its potential awesomeness somewhere between a fifth grade science project and a Mel Gibson musical entitled “Tolerance.”

  2. Novroz says:

How many more The X-men and scream will they make in the future? I wonder.

  3. Ripley says:

Is anyone else sick of superhero movies?

  4. Andrew says:

I’ll stand up for First Class. I’m digging the retro costumes and the cast, frankly, looks good in their uniforms. I don’t think a frame from an action shot of Magneto’s enough to really go on, but at least the characters look okay. It’s enough to raise my interest from “yawn” to “intrigued”. Put it this way, they look no goofier than Captain America.

One note– Hathaway isn’t necessarily playing Catwoman. The press release only refers to her as Selina Kyle. Who, admittedly, is Catwoman, but Kyle showing up doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to get Catwoman action. I think everyone in the world still remembers the dogshit that was Halle Berry’s superheroine vehicle, and I can’t see Nolan putting Hathaway in costume– or at least referring to her as Catwoman.

    “It’s…it’s incredible. You’re clearly a woman, and yet…so much like a cat.”

Tom Hardy should be in many movies by virtue of his awesomeness, and I’m thrilled that he’s playing Bane. Makes me confident that they’re going with the real character instead of Sir Grunts-A-Lot from Batman and Robin.
