AM Movie Fantasy League: Season 1
The auction draft for the first installment of the AM Movie Fantasy League took place last weekend and was a smashing success! I want to thank all of you who participated in this decidedly time consuming event. It was a huge commitment, having to sit in front of a computer the entire weekend to make fantasy bids and I am thankful we had such a wonderful and dedicated group of participants.
Now that the draft has concluded, it is time to look forward to the season which will start on March 1 and continue all the way down through the end of the year. Keep an eye out for the weekly update and leaderboard which will be posted every Monday afternoon.
Rules
- Season: March 1 to December 31, 2011
- The “studio” with the highest score at the end of the season will be declared winner
- Scoring: US Box Office x RT Score
- Movies can be traded amongst “studios”
- Movies can be added/dropped up to two weeks before their release
- All transactions must be approved by the commissioner
The Prizes

- The winners of each division will win one movie poster each
- Additionally, the runner ups in each division will win one movie poster as well
- Last but not least, the league winner (highest scoring studio inter-league) will win an additional 2 movie posters!
For lack of a better option, the league winner will choose his 3 posters first. Then, the other division winner (1), then the first division runner-up (1) and finally the other division runner-up will take whatever is left on the table.

Oh, and you’re damn right!
Only two mistakes (that I see right now) could keep me from destroying my division. One, bidding (even for $2) on African Cats. With only 8 teams, it’s a movie whose low box office will really hurt me. Second, not outbidding CS – by a mere dollar (it’s complicated; I had the last bid in, but he outbid himself) when I had plenty of money to spend – for Tintin, which I really wanted.
LOL – I thought you were joking about the “17% of HP7.2″ business. How in the hell did that happen?
Someone offered to sell their piece of Harry Potter for 23, and since 17% will still net me mad bank, I took it. And if now, I have Michael Bay and Todd Phillips to fall back on.
I REALLY wanted Tintin as I reckon it’ll be a hit worldwide (not sure how it’ll do in the US though) and I grew up reading the comics, in fact, still do to this day!
Tintis is a great comic book! One of the most visual and filmic comics there is and they will have a hard time matching the original.
This was fun, Castor! Time consuming surely but quite addictive!
I had no idea there’ll be prizes, so yay!
Hey Fletch, so we both own X-Men: First Class, let’s hope that one won’t tank… I’m cautiously optimistic it’ll be a major hit!!

I’ll be really surprised if it’s not Top 10 for the year in box office. And with Vaughn directing, I expect it to do well critically, too.
Wahooo!! Glad you both are in my camp about First Class. I’d say it looks like a first rate film that’d hopefully erase X:3 from our memory.
