First Teaser for Steven Spielberg’s “The Adventures of Tintin”
Paramount/Sony have released a short teaser for Steven Spielberg‘s The Adventures of Tintin via Apple and it looks pretty exciting. The performance capture animation looks a lot better than in previous movies using the technology and we even get to finally see Tintin’s face. However, this trailer doesn’t really introduce the characters or its universe too well and while Tintin is iconic outside the US, he is basically unknown here. In any case, this is only a one-minute teaser with random footage so don’t expect to learn too much about the plot or the characters.
Based on the series of books The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé, the film stars Jamie Bell as Tintin, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock, Daniel Craig as the villain Red Rackham, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost as Thompson & Thompson, and Toby Jones as Silk. The Weta Digital-animated movie is set to come out in 3-D on December 23, 2011. Check out the teaser below and please let us know what you think!

It’s not the type of thing I’d ordinarily see. But Spielberg/Peter Jackson/Edgar Wright/Joe Cornish is the 1927 Yankees’ Murderers Row of filmmakers. And as such, I guarantee I’ll see it.
hmmm Funny, I thought I may have been more excited when I saw the trailer. But it has done the opposite. I just get shudders of Final Fantasy…meh!!
Ah well we live in hope!
Not quite sold, maybe the theatrical trailer will.
Well Castor, since I’m posting this one too, you already know I’m excited for it. Fortunately I’m not seeing the ‘dead eyes’ problem like previous mo-cap animation. I pretty much avoid such animation ever since Polar Express, but I have faith in WETA and Spielberg/Jackson direction. I sure hope the actual movie delivers! Oooh, this is pure nostalgia for me. I have all kinds of Tintin memorabilia at home
I just saw the teaser at the AV Club and it looks intriguing. I might see this. Hopefully, both Spielberg and Jackson can redeem themselves after the crap projects they’ve made recently.
I’m a big Tintin fan so I’m really excited about this, no one but Spielberg could make a good Tintin film in my opinion.
And I’m glad they used Motion Capture, it gives the perfect feel to it and makes it look like the comic books in motion.
This is one of my most anticipated films of the year by far.
Same here Jack.
I love the teaser…it looks true to its graphic novel.
I think the poster had me at “Written by Stephen Moffat” I LOVE his work – showrunning Dr. Who (and before that penned some of my favorite episodes during the David Tennant era), Coupling, Sherlock (w/ Hobbit Martin Freeman).
This looks like something I may add to my movie watching list.
Smart marketing…they sure don’t show too many faces, and considering mo-cap’s reputation, that’s a wise move. The more action and fewer people that are seen, the better.
