Watch: Teaser Trailer for Disney’s “John Carter”
Walt Disney Pictures has debuted the first teaser trailer for Andrew Stanton’s adventure movie John Carter on Apple and it is quite a visual feast. Starring Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Haden Church, and James Purefoy, the film revolves around a man named John Carter who is inexplicably transported to the mysterious and exotic planet Mars where he becomes embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions and discovers that the survival of the planet and its people rests in his hands.
The film is based on the classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs and is directed by Oscar-winner Andrew Stanton, who previously helmed Finding Nemo and Wall-E for Pixar. The trailer is most definitely intriguing and features some gorgeous scenery. It has a bit of an old-fashioned epic feel and John Carter could be the movie Prince of Persia wanted to be last year. I like what I see so far.
The film opens on March 9, 2012. Check out the trailer and press release below or click over to Apple for the HD version. Let us know what you think in the comments!

This project isn’t on my radar at all and not sure the trailer sold me. I probably rent this one.
But it’s John Carter of Mars!
Cool visuals but I didn’t know Mars looked exactly like… Earth
What do you know. Have you been to Mars?
I’ve never read books but this teaser looks cool, might check it out on the big screen.
Looks pretty intriguing to me too. But the March release is always scary after crap like Battle Los Angeles this year.
I grew up on these books–I’ve read all of them at least a half dozen times each. I’m curious to see how closely they stick to Burroughs.
Of course, this being a Disney film, it’s going to stray pretty far in the fact that in the stories, everyone ran around naked.
I’m taking a wait-and-see with this. My hope is that the necessary CG is used well since the technology now exists to create the creatures as they should be created. But, since this is sword-and-sandals fantasy, it could just as easily veer into stupid very quickly.
Ahahaha, guess no one is running naked this time around. I like that they didn’t show any of the creatures.
Well (as I dust of my John Carter power nrrd boots), there is a brief glimpse of one of the green men–probably Tars Tarkas of Thark. But who knows?
Apparently, Mars looks like Colorado. Or Utah. I never knew.
This looks all right. Yet, I hope to see more in the coming months.
I grew up reading the “Barsoom” series, and just soaked them up. Looking forward to this one, may not be the best one coming out, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it immensely..
It looks like “Conan meets Star Wars the Clone Wars” I can’t wait to see it at the movies !!!!!!!
I can’t believe I’ll have to wait until March to see this film.
Anyway, I’m excited and I’m fan of the book so this movie better live up to expectations.
