Creepy Trailer for “The Woman in Black” Starring Daniel Radcliffe

A trailer for James Watkins’ The Woman in Black has been released and it promises a spooky watching experience. The film is based on Susan Hill’s 1983 novel and stars Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who travels to the remote small town of Crythin Gifford to settle the affairs of Alice Drablow, a recently deceased elderly widow who owns a dilapidated mansion. He soon discovers that a vengeful ghost is terrorizing the locals. When those closest to him become threatened by the woman in black, he is forced to find a way to break the cycle of terror.

When you think of Daniel Radcliffe, you immediately think of Harry Potter. It remains to be seen how successful he will be away from the franchise he has been associated with for so long. However, this looks like a great start, spooky dolls, creepy little girl narration and all. The cast also includes Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer, Liz White, and Alisa Khazanova.

The Woman in Black opens in theaters February 3, 2012. Click over to Yahoo! Movies to see this creepy trailer in HD or watch the embed below:

Yaaay!! Dan Rad is my absolute favourite! I hope this is good. It looks creepy enough, and I love his look. It’s quite a radical change…December Boys was a bit bland.

I am sorry to name drop again but they showed a long clip of this at Big Screen over the weekend. James Watkins was on stage and he seemed like a great guy and really excited about this project.

The clip they showed was really tense and scary. Apparently they have been working hard using private screenings where they film the audience to tweak the scares and tension….sounds cool!!

I couldn’t access here on AM so I went to YouTube…Holy Crap! That looks pretty creepy! I love a good ghost story. I’m not a of fan of crazy serial killer stuff, so I don’t get a lot of ones like this. I’m in.

Yeah I’m curious how much he can shake off Potter. Gotta give him props for trying.

Dan has gone in a very different direction and I think it’s a good choice. I love the rhyme too, definitely adds to the creepiness!

  7. Richard says:

I’m keen to see this but it will never outdo the 1989 British TV movie from the same book. One of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. This has some big shoes to fill.

I heard an interview with him concerning this movie and he said that it is a “throwback” of sorts to the best that the Hammer Horror films offered.
