Natalie Portman Offered Lead Role in Indie Drama “Adaline”
Natalie Portman has been offered the lead role in indie romance “Adaline,” The Wrap reports. The Academy Award winner would replace Katherine Heigl who dropped out last fall in the role of a woman who was born at the turn of the 20th century and becomes unable to age beyond her 20′s after she is struck by lightning. After years of loneliness, she meets and falls for a man who may be worth giving up her immortality. No more details are known but the fact that the main character can choose to bypass immortality for love make it sound like a fairy tale.
Angela Lansbury is also attached to the project as Portman’s daughter and Andy Tennant is supposedly still on-board to direct. The script was written by Mills Goodloe and Sal Paskowitz. Sidney Kimmel, Steve Golin and Alex Madison are producing for Lakeshore Entertainment.

Well, I already know about this from a Portman fansite and the reaction has been lukewarm. It’s just that why would Natalie take a role that was offered to Katherine Heigl?
No, she needs to do something else.
Ahah true.. It doesn’t sound like the kind of role that fits an Oscar winner at this point in her career
I hope she says no. Your Highness and No Strings Attached were (almost) forgivable since she was cast before her Oscar win, but she would be wise to have her agent automatically reject anything where she was the second choice to Heigl.
Almost… almost… (cringe)
I am a fan of most of Portman’s work. Thanks for this update!
Did anyone see her in Hescher? thoughts?
Hmm doesn’t seem right for her somehow. Why can’t I be struck by lightening, immortality sounds right up my street!!
I’m not sure you want to be hit by lightning. The desired effects may not apply
Wow, talk about an upgrade… from Heigl to Portman!
Ahaha I love all the pointed shots at Katherine Heigl.
I like her since I saw her in Black Swan.
The movie is quite interesting, stuck at age 20 because of lightening. But it becomes weird when she has to let that go for love. I think she is too good for such role.
Maybe we need to know more about the movie
