Reese Witherspoon To Star In Disney’s “Wish List”

Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon, who coincidentally hasn’t been in a good movie since 2005′s Walk the Line, has attached herself to Disney’s Wish List, Deadline reports. The romantic comedy tells the story of a young girl who throws a coin down a well and makes ten wishes that don’t come true because her coin gets stuck before reaching the bottom. 25 years later, the coin is dislodged and the now young career woman has to deal with the peculiar ramifications of 10 childhood wishes coming true all at once.

This sounds like a great fit for Witherspoon and a potentially fun family movie although I absolutely loathed a recent romantic comedy with a similar premise, Kristen Bell’s When In Rome. The comedy was initially developed for a male lead but writer Randi Mayem Singer (Mrs. Doubtfire) is making changes on the script for Witherspoon.

Witherspoon has been in a bit of a funk since she became one of Hollywood’s brightest star after receiving an Oscar for her performance as June Carter in Walk the Line. Since then, she has starred in her fair share of formulaic romantic comedies such as Four Christmases and last year’s major box office bust How Do You Know? She was last seen in Water for Elephant and will next be seen in McG’s romantic comedy This Means War. I think it’s safe to say that we all wished she would take more risk.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Reese Witherspoon? What could the 10 wishes be?

    1. McG is making a romantic comedy? Yeah, probably will be skipping that one…

    2. This premise intrigues me. It would be nice to see Reese get back on track. Can’t really blame her for doing How Do You Know, though. By all means, that movie should have been better than it actually was.

isn’t McG the dude behind Supernatural? I love that show.

Reese will always be Legally Blonde to me, no matter what she is in I will be waiting for the ‘bend….and snap’ OK I am losing those man points again aren’t i?

Looks like another dud if the premise is similar to When in Rome and without a strong director at the helm. Agree with you she needs to step out of her comfort zone once again.
