‘Expendables 2′ Attracts Schwarzenegger And Willis in Expanded Roles
The Expendables, which was basically the biggest names in macho-action movies mashed into a single film, will have a sequel that will be released in August of next year. The Expendables 2 will start shooting in Bulgaria next week and will also be part filmed in China. Reports from Total Film have now confirmed that action stars Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who both played small cameo roles in the first film, will have hugely extended roles this time around. In fact, Bruce Willis will star as the main villain whose second in command will come in the shape of Jean-Claude Van Damme. Arnie will also have a substantial role in the new film. Now all we need is Seagal and we’re set!
The sequel looks set to follow on from what the first film was attempting to do: fit as many action stars into a single film and it can’t fail to be good. You could hardly fit more in if you tried. Willis, Arnie and Van Damme will join second time round Expendables Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke and Dolph Lundgren. Chuck Norris is even rumored to be attached to the project! The guys behind this film seem to have gone all out to make the second movie bigger and better and I’m sure we’ll see the same mix of gratuitous violence, explosion and women that the first film brought us. Lets hope they think a little more about the story this time around after a mixed reception for the first film.

Also, the sequel isn’t being directed by Stallone, but by Simon West (“Con Air”).
I honestly have no interest in this one at all
The fact that there is a sequel makes me a sad.
I skipped the first one, and will likely skip this one too. Unless my doctor tells me that I need more testosterone shots.
The first one I actually kind of really liked, even though the story was pretty weak but I think this one will be so much better if they can attract more. But with what they have is already impressive I think.
I was kind of disappointed with the first one, but it does not matter as I will see this second one as well…just based on feelings of nostalgia. Great to hear Schwarzenegger is going to have a bigger role though!
I quite enjoyed the Expendables. It was loud and packed full of guns and big bangs – exactly what I expected. The acting and writing were a bit ropey but as Nostra said, it was good in terms of the nostalgia side. It was definitely a throwback to Sly’s action heyday…
I liked The Expendables way more than I thought I was going to. I look forward to a sequel, but only as long as they keep Steven Seagal away from it. I don’t know if they have any plans to include him, but I’m sure his name has come up, and I think that would present a huge problem for me. Unless of course I could be guaranteed that his character was bad and would therefore suffer a gruesome fate, possibly at the hands of Chuck Norris. Now THAT I would pay good money to see!
