Watch: Trailer for “One for the Money” with Katherine Heigl
Lionsgate has debuted a trailer for Julie Anne Robinson’s adaptation of Janet Evanovich’s bestseller One for the Money. Katherine Heigl stars as popular heroine Stephanie Plum, an unemployed and newly divorced lingerie saleswoman from New Jersey who turns to a career as a “recovery agent” (aka a bounty hunter) for her cousin’s bail bonding company.
This isn’t exactly looking like a great movie and the movie was pushed from a summer 2011 release to the dumping ground that is January but I can see the trailer’s appeal. Katherine Heigl is more charming than usual if you don’t already hate her and this looks like it could be a half-entertaining action-comedy. Low expectations I know…
The cast also includes Jason O’Mara, Daniel Sunjata, John Leguiziamo, Debbie Reynolds, and Debra Monk. One for the Money is set for a January 27, 2012 release.

Katherine Heigl brings Stephanie Plum – the popular heroine of Janet Evanovich’s worldwide best-selling sixteen-book mystery series – to vibrant life in Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment’s ONE FOR THE MONEY.
A proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum’s got plenty of attitude, even if she’s been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector. Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company…as a recovery agent. True, she doesn’t even own a pair of handcuffs and her weapon of choice is pepper spray, but that doesn’t stop Stephanie from taking on Vinny’s biggest bail-jumper: former vice cop and murder suspect Joe Morelli – yup, the same sexy, irresistible Joe Morelli who seduced and dumped her back in high school.
Nabbing Morelli would be satisfying payback – and a hefty payday – but as Stephanie learns the ins and outs of becoming a recovery agent from Ranger, a hunky colleague who’s the best in the business, she also realizes the case against Morelli isn’t airtight. Add to the mix her meddling family, a potentially homicidal boxer, witnesses who keep dying and the problem of all those flying sparks when she finds Morelli himself…well, suddenly Stephanie’s new job isn’t nearly as easy as she thought.
Starring Katherine Heigl, ONE FOR THE MONEY is a fresh, funny action-comedy directed by Julie Anne Robinson and also starring Jason O’Mara, Daniel Sunjata, John Leguiziamo, Debbie Reynolds and Debra Monk. Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment present a Lakeshore Entertainment Lionsgate Wendy Finerman production in association with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment Abishag Productions. Directed by Julie Anne Robinson. Screenplay by Stacy Sherman & Karen Ray and Liz Brixius. Based on the novel by Janet Evanovich.

I was watching this about 30 minutes ago. It looks bad. It just reminds me a bit of “Killers” and a bit of “The Bounty Hunter” or something. It’s just fucking awful. Katherine Heigl needs to go away. She’s not attractive, that accent is cringe-worthy, and she just can’t act worth a shit.
Ahaha you will hate her no matter what, won’t you?
I’m gonna go the other way on this. I’m with Steven that Katherine Heigl takes the world’s most obnoxious roles, and has replaced Kate Hudson and Jennifer Anniston as the poster child for sould draining rom coms.
But this trailer actually had me impressed when I saw it last night (attached to moneyball). Not that I would be expecting great things or anything, but I was surprised that it seemed like a movie starring Katherine Heigl that I could watch without vomiting.
Hearing that its been shelved to January though… oosh. Not a good sign.
Glad we see eye to eye on this. Probably a slight variation from her stock character but she doesn’t seem as obnoxious as usual in this trailer. The movie will probably still be mediocre but I could see it being an improvement over her recent movies.
I personally don’t really have anything against her, she just ever stars in anything i’m interested in with the exception of Knocked Up
That said, this trailer didn’t look too bad to me(Compared to her usual movies anyways).
*never stars
My girlfriend loves the book series! I got to chime in this look like the most interesting Cathrine Heigl film since Valentine.
hmmm. when i saw in the synopsis the character is from new jersey i thought – know where this is going – she will attempt a jersey accent. and lo and behold.
besides that based on the trailer, i think i would like the books better.
I don’t know Castor, the subject matter just doesn’t interest me. I haven’t completely written her off completely but the trailer just doesn’t appeal to me.
Pardon the double word in there, ahah.
Is this a prequel to the Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey flick? I sure hope so…
It doesn’t look awful. But nobody hold me to that.
The best lines of the trailer seem to come from the supporting cast. I’m thinking that the January release date may also have to do with the relatively unknown leading man. He’s been in a lot of TV shows, but is untested compared to most of the guy-candy they put in rom-coms.
I love the Stephanie Plum books but not sure about this adaptation. Still, Heigl doesn’t look as annoying as usual and the supporting cast seems ok. I’ll reserve judgement for a while….
