First Look at Ryan Gosling in “The Place Beyond The Pines”
Riding a wave of wild acclaim for starring in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive a few weeks ago, Ryan Gosling will substitute his car for a motor bike in his next feature film, the crime-thriller The Place Beyond The Pines and we have a first official still of the movie. The Canadian actor re-teams again with BFF Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine), starring as Luke a motorcycle stunt rider who unexpectedly becomes a father and turns to bank robbery to support his newborn son. When Luke becomes entangled with the law, it spirals into a tense generational feud with a police officer-turned-politician (Bradley Cooper), eventually also consuming their sons’ (Emory Cohen and Dane DeHaan) lives.
The impressive cast also includes Rose Byrne Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn, Ray Liotta, and Max Martini. Cianfrance previously said of the story:
“It’s kind of an epic movie. It takes place over a couple of generations and it’s kind of a crime story, kind of a mystery. I’ve had people tell me they feel like it’s ‘The Deer Hunter’ meets ‘The Godfather.””
The film is currently in post-production and although there is no release date yet, this should have trouble finding distribution next year, possibly after a premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Check out the picture below. Production house Sierra Affinity has also released the official synopsis:
Luke (Gosling) is a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son, but when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Cooper) their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational fued. THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES is a rich dramatic thriller that traces the intersecting lives of fathers and sons, cops and robbers, heroes and villain.

Love Gosling and love Cianfrance. This is sure to be a hit, I can tell.
ahha from one picture? But yea the premise sounds great and obviously Gosling and Cianfrance were excellent with Blue Valentine
I’ll totally see this.
Ditto
Wait one second: Dane DeHann can look young enough to look like Bradley Cooper’s son?
It’s a “generational feud” so I assume it will take place over the course of many decades.
Just try and stop me loving this film!!
I’m pointing a gun at your gravatar right now!
This sounds excellent. Gosling and Cooper are two of my favorite working actors right now.
So he’s turned in his white jacket for a red jacket? I think I like the white one better!
