Eddie Redmayne to Star as Marius in Tom Hooper’s “Les Miserables”
After directing last year’s Oscar-winning The King’s Speech, Tom Hooper has set his sights on an adaptation of the beloved musical Les Miserables, casting Hugh Jackman as his Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Inspector Jalvert and Anne Hathaway as Fantine. Add another name to this star-studded cast as Deadline reports that Eddie Redmayne will take on the role of Marius, the young revolutionary who falls in love with Cosette.
Redmayne, a Tony Award winner for his work in “Red,” is quickly raising his Hollywood profile with a co-starring role in My Week with Marylin alongside Michelle Williams. He will next be seen on stage in “Richard II.” Production for Les Miserables is set to begin early next year for a December 7, 2012 release date.
There is still plenty of important roles that remain to be cast, starting with the character of Cosette. It will be fun to see who Hooper chooses to fill the role of the young woman although Hayden Panettiere (Scream 4), Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly), Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) and Harry Potter‘s Emma Watson have been rumored to be on a shortlist for the role.

I’ve only seen him in Pillars of the Earth and the Marilyn trailer, I kind of like the look of him, reminds me a bit of Cillian Murphy or Hugh Dancy. So far I’m liking the MALE cast of this movie!

Eddie Redmayne is great, I can’t remember where was the first time I saw him, but he has a special appereance to him, there is something that draws you in! He was great in Pillars of the Earth and I can’t wait to see My week with Marilyn.
There was a rumour at some point about Paul Bettany joining the cast…is there still a posibility? I love him, I think he is great!
