Must Watch: First Trailer for ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’

In the battle between the two Snow White movies currently in production, Universal has pulled the latest punch, releasing the first trailer for Rupert Sanders‘ Snow White and the Huntsman (via Apple). Kristen Stewart stars as Snow White in the fairy tale adaptation, training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who was originally dispatched to kill her. Charlize Theron plays the Evil Queen while Sam Claffin takes on the role of Prince.

Visually, this is an extremely impressive preview of what’s to come. The trailer mostly revolves around the Evil Queen with Theron providing a voice-over throughout. We do get glimpses of Kristen Stewart but for some reason, she doesn’t get to speak at all. Nonetheless, I’m quite excited to see where this is going. This is pretty intense and nothing I would have expected from a Snow White movie.

Check out the trailer below or click over to Apple to watch the trailer in HD. Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 2, 2012.

In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her.  But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her.  Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.

The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.

  1. Green Machine says:

Wait a minute… Is this movie trying to say that Kristen Stewart is more beautiful than Charlize Theron? Because that’s a big stretch…

  2. Sarah says:

This looks unexpectedly awesome. If anything, K Stew is the low point of this trailer…

  3. Momo says:

Quite an unexpected (to me) take on the story. Should be interesting. I hope Stewart channels young Natalie Portman in Leon rather than her broody and mostly expressionless Twilight persona.

  4. le0pard13 says:

Charlize Theron is it for me in this trailer. Is it wicked I’m pulling for her over Kristen Stewart in this (and I’m a brunette man). Looks awesome.

  5. Seveo says:

Good thing they didn’t let Kristen Stewart say a line in the trailer, she would have ruined it with something like

“Wh.. Why does… s the evil… evil queen want to… to k..k…kill me?” (pout face)

  6. Fitz says:

Stewart is only bad in Twilight because the book-and, by extension, the script-are so atrocious. She was quite good in Into the Wild, Adventureland, Welcome to the Rileys.

    • Castor says:

Personally, I didn’t think much of her involvement in Into the Wild (very small role) and Adventureland which the same brand of brooding and timid acting she’s been doing in Twilight. Nonetheless, I’m willing to give her a blank slate for this.

  7. Nikhat says:

As I said earlier, this will all be about the Evil Queens. And I am loving Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. This looks quite good. Who would’ve thought?

  8. This might be good. Plus, Charlize Theron as the queen. Man, she’s the reason I want to see this. And yes, Charlize is way hotter and prettier than Kristen Stewart. Plus, she’s funnier.

    • Castor says:

Ya she’s the main attraction so far. Maybe Kristen Stewart will be allowed to say a line in the next trailer so we can gauge how interesting she will be in the lead role.

  9. Dan says:

I thought it was totally uninspiring. It reminded me too much of Lord of the Rings or Narnia…I was expecting something different and what I’m seeing is something exactly the same. Perhaps the film itself will work much better than its trailer for me but now I’m looking forward to seeing what the other Snow White film has in store.

  10. I am hoping this will be the dark fairytale that Red Riding should have been. And although Kirsten would not have been my choice for a lead, but having seen her in other movies besides Twilight i think she will be fine.

  11. I like how you said VISUALLY this looks impressive. Sure did, didn’t it?

But I still dont “get it”. Seems like a jumbled garbled mess. And Theron’s accent sounds… bad. And once again, K Stew, “fairer” than her? Uhhhhh… in what alternate universe is THAT happening?

Whatever, we’ll see. I’ll just say of the two impending Theron movies, I’m far more looking forward to “Young Adult”.

    • Castor says:

Ahaha I love that everyone is mentioning how Charlize is hotter than K Stew as if the latter was a bag of dirt. That said a lot of young actresses in Hollywood are going to pale in comparison and I don’t think someone like Bar Refaeli was an option I suppose ;)

I’m looking forward to Young Adult too :D

      • Momo says:

You know, I’ll go with the opposing view and actually say that I find Stewart to clean up quite nicely when she isn’t in her usual hipster/hobo-chic garbs and that I don’t find Theron to be all that attractive despite having the stereotypical golden good looks…

  12. Scott says:

    Where are the dwarves?

    HAHA

Seriously though, even though it has my most hated actress in it, this trailer looks a bit cool!! I am sure it will suck as a film though

  13. I love the fact that everyone is talking about K-stew, but no one is even mentioning the fact that THOR knows Snow White! Did you see the classic “Thor Hammer throwing move” in the trailer?? Loved it! haha

  14. Jaina says:

K-stew aside, I’m looking forward to this. It looks stunning and the trailer has me suitably excited. Kristen just comes across so utterly sullen in the roles I’ve seen her in. Well, all the 3 non-Twilight things I’ve seen her in. Hope she doesn’t ruin it!

  15. Gabe Jackson says:

Didn’t Chris Hemsworth pull that exact same Thor move in “Thor”? Where he like flips the axe and like, flies towards his enemy?

  16. ruth says:

Seems like Hemsworth is reprising Thor again in this… different tool (from hammer to ax), but same exact use of weaponry. Not complaining though, he looks good in that armor ;)

  17. 3guys1movie says:

kristen Stewart is to Charlize Theron as Wilfred Brimley is to Chris Hemsworth.

  18. Red says:

This looked surprisingly awesome. Though that first poster gives off a bad Alice in Wonderland vibe, combined with the shield that looks like it was stolen straight out of Lord of the Rings.
