Sacha Baron Cohen Joins Cast of ‘Django Unchained’
Quentin Tarantino is putting the finishing touches on the star-studded cast of his upcoming film Django Unchained and when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the director went ahead and outdid himself. Variety reports that Sacha Baron Cohen (a.k.a. Borat) has signed up to join the cast of the film.
For those of you unfamiliar with the project, Jamie Foxx will star as Django, a freed slave-turned-bounty hunter who must return to his plantation to rescue his slave wife Broomhilda (Washington) from the evil Calvin Candie, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Cohen will take on the role of Scotty Harmony, a gambler who buys Broomhilda as a female companion but ends up losing her to Candie.
Cohen will next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s family fare Hugo starting November 23. The cast will also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson, and Anthony LaPaglia. Plans are to start shooting Django Unchained in New Orleans in January for a December 25, 2012 release.

Well he’s the last actor I pictured in that role but I’m sure he’ll do a good job. Pretty small part but I think the showdown between him and Candy should be a fun scene to watch. Apparently Jonah Hill was offered this role but has to pass because of scheduling conflicts, he would’ve been perfect for the role.
I trust in Tarantino with anything he does as a filmmaker. Plus, I like Cohen so I’m for this.
we should just start posting who is not going to be in this film
this is the one casting that makes me want to jump out a window. i am not a fan of Sasha
Really? I am a little in shock about this choice for sure
…this will be interesting.
Tarantino’s movie usually has some comedic component to it. Maybe that’s it?
Sounds good to me! Cohen is pretty talented, and I’m sure Tarantino will put him to good use.
Not sure about this one. Cohen is an extremely intelligent man, but I went off him after Bruno. Hopefully Tarantino can help bring out the best of him!
I’m always surprised by Cohen- that he’s so much more than just Borat and Bruno- whenever I see him in other things. So in that sense, I’m not surprised.
But I’d still like to spend 5 minutes with Quentin Tarantino’s brain to see just what the heck goes on in there.
