Weepy New Trailer for “The Vow” with Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum

Screen Gems has debuted a new trailer for Michael Sucsy’s romantic tearjerker The Vow (via MTV’s Hollywood Crush). Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum star as Paige and Leo, a recently married couple whose lives are devastated by a funny tragic car accident. When Paige loses all memory of her relationship with her husband, Leo vows to do whatever it takes to make her fall in love with him all over again.

While this totally sounds and looks like a Nicholas Spark adaptation, the film is actually based on the true story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. Following a car accident just ten weeks after their 1993 wedding, Krickitt lost all memories of the previous 18 months of her life, including her husband.

This preview is fairly similar to the first one and overall it looks like you could do worse as far as date movies go if you are into this. If you find romantic tearjerkers to be disgustingly manipulative and melodramatic, then you will probably despise this no matter what.

The Vow will hit theaters just in time for Valentine’s Day 2012. Check out the trailer below

Can’t wait to see this! Rachel McAdams can do no wrong. I’ll probably be a blubbering mess after seeing it

  2. Gibbs says:

Rachel is gorgeous (in all 50 hairstyles featured in the trailer) but Channing Tatum is laughable. Watching him emote with his typical mumbling to boot would probably make me laugh rather than cry.

    • Castor says:

Yea while McAdams can play this kind of role in her sleep, Tatum is obviously the weak link in this. He doesn’t seem to have a lot of range so hopefully, they worked around that.

  3. My God! Talk about vomit-inducing. I like Rachel McAdams but man, this is fuckin’ crap! Let’s see, Channing Tatum singing… yikes! Him emoting… LMAO!!!!

    All I hear from him blub-blub-blub-blub and BLUB-BLUB!!! BLUB-BLUB!!!!!

  4. Channing Tatum is a BIG no-no on my list as well, but Rachel McAdams is always a reason to watch a film! This one does look sappy, but will grab a lot of viewers with it’s near-Valentine’s Day release!

    • Castor says:

Yea it will probably do good business as the Valentine’s Day date flick. Women will love it, guys will have little reason to see this unless forced at gunpoint ;)

  5. The only thing I’ve actually seen Channing Tatum in was Stop Loss, where he wasn’t too bad. Although it is funny to see “From The Notebook” stacked up against “From Dear John.”

Also, would it count as a SPOILER if I predicted that the Meatloaf song turns out to provide a turning point later in the film?

    • Castor says:

Ahaha that’s probably a good guess with that Meatloaf song ;) I don’t think Tatum is a terrible actor, just somewhat limited emotional-wise. I guess we will see how he does.

This might be a little off-topic, but I’m convinced Rachel McAdams, maybe more than almost any other actress, is capable of pulling off any hair color and looking great. Totally makes me jealous! She looks awesome in this movie, even though this movie looks like it could make a notebook out of Dear John letters. Looks like Kim Carpenter (the author of the book) just tore a page out of Nicholas Sparks’ notebook. Eeek!

    • Castor says:

Nothing is off-topic! Very true, she looks great in any hair color although I thought the 67 different hairstyles shown in the trailer were a bit distracting ;)

Is this like Dear John 2?? Meh on Tatum, so I’ll pass on this one.
