Matthew Lillard in Talks to Join Amy Adams & Clint Eastwood in ‘Trouble with the Curve’
Matthew Lillard, the star of cinematic treats such as the Scream trilogy, the Scooby-Doo movies a decade ago, is making an unlikely comeback from the acting doldrums as of late. The 42-year old actor had a small but highly memorable performance in Alexander Payne’s highly acclaimed drama The Descendants and now, it looks like he has caught the attention of Clint Eastwood and his producing partner Robert Lorenz.
The Wrap reports that Lillard along with newcomer Joe Massingill are in talks for roles in Trouble with the Curve, Eastwood’s first acting gig since Gran Torino nearly four years ago. The script, written by Randy Brown, sees Eastwood play an aging baseball scout losing his sight, who heads to Atlanta with his daughter to check out a hot prospect. Amy Adams has officially been confirmed to play the daughter while Lillard will play another baseball scout. There is no word on what role Massingill is eyed for. Lorenz is looking to make his directorial debut with filming slated to begin in March.

Any respectable work for Lillard is good news. The Descendants may have been small, but he made the most of his role and managed to be memorable in a movie defined by memorable performances.
Yea, totally unlike what he has done in the past too.
Why don’t you mention that he was in the Wing Commander feature film Castor hahaha
lol… We don’t want to ruin his career resurgence now
I liked Matthew Lillard. I often cite “SLC Punk!” as his best performance. It’s good he’s getting work and to do a Clint Eastwood film. Let’s just hope it’s a good film from Clint.
Yea, I’m glad he is not directing and just acting in it.
This sounds interesting. Perhaps we’ll start seeing move movies about the scouts since the success of “Moneyball,” even though that book is far more detailed than the movie ever set out to be.
I’m a fan of Lillard. Back in high school, I loved him in teen movies, such as “She’s All That,” or the earlier “Scream” movies. I even thought he was pretty funny in “Without a Paddle.” Sounds like an interesting cast. I hope Lillard continues to make a comeback since “The Descendants.”
I feel the movie won’t be as much about the baseball scouting as about the relationship between Clint and Amy Adams’ characters
i love the direction his career is going in.
Which is?
Wow… I haven’t seen anything Lillard has done since.. Scream I think. Where has he been!?
Mostly TV but yea, his career was fading until recently.
