The Hollywood Fantasy League: 2012 Season

After the awesome fantasy draft back in November, the Hollywood Fantasy League is now underway and this is where you will find everything pertaining to the 2012 season, including the leaderboard, discussion threads and transaction list. If you would like to see the results of the draft, feel free to head over to the 7-round draft thread.

While the commissioner will do his best to update the scoreboard accurately and comprehensively, each participant is ultimately responsible for keeping track of each event that could affect his/her score. Hence, you should announce in the comments such things as casting news, awards and other news regarding your actors/director (see Rules).

  1. Joel Burman says:

Awesome Castor! This reminds me that I need to get ahold of the film I’ll be remaking in my pitch!

  2. Novroz says:

    Finally!!
But I still wonder when is the pitching time?

  3. I would like to make a few changes to my cast

-Replace Hoult with Zac Efron due to jack the Giant Killer getting delayed.
-Add Morgan Freeman and have him count for points instead of Jolie.

  4. iluvcinema says:

Do I get points for Idris Elba winning GG? I assume no because it is a TV category.

  5. Castor says:

Hey guys and gals, I knew the scoring was going to be a challenge to keep track of but this is going to be hard for me to remember/know about every single event. Make sure to monitor your own cast for news that I might have forgotten.

  6. Scott says:

Wow Thanks for this info Castor!!

i am pretty chuffed with my cat, they have done me a good job so far… I hope more comes up for them.

    Thanks

  7. Dan Heaton says:

Awesome! I’m glad to have a few points and am pulling for Woody Allen to get an Oscar nomination tomorrow. Now I just need to start thinking up my pitch…

    • Joel Burman says:

That must be one of the safest bets of this year. I would be incredible surprised if he is NOT nominated. Hell I think he might have a chance of winning it too I think (haven’t seen Midnight myself but the amount of praise is insane).

      • Dan Heaton says:

I thought he had a good chance, but the awards that usually predict the Best Director nomination haven’t been great to Woody. He does seem to be a shoo-in for a screenplay Oscar at least.

  8. Rich says:

I guess I should be grateful to just be on the scoreboard. I think most of the actors I’ve chosen won’t really make their presence felt until the second half of the year, so that’s when I predict things will turn in my favor.

  9. Fogs says:

Heh. My scoreboard is going to have a bagel on it until March at the least. LOL

  10. Squasher88 says:

I should have Critics Choice points for Jessica Chastain, Ryan Gosling and Martin Scorcese.

I should also have Indie Spirit points for Chastain and Gosling.

  11. iluvcinema says:

Here is a way to keep track just in case anyone is interested: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/movies/redcarpet/rc_scorecard.html

  12. Squasher88 says:

I just noticed that you give points for SAG too. Points for Jessica Chastain please. Sorry if I’m being annoying.

  13. Novroz says:

I only noticed awards so far…how bout the box office point?

  14. Thanks for this Castor! woohoo! I am excited to see this unfold!

If you wish, you can rename my part to The Focused Filmographer or something.

But my film will still be produced by Red Web Productions! :)

  15. Obviously in some films there may be a gray area as to lead/supporting. I’m assuming this is at the commissioner’s discretion.

I had a question about Kate Beckinsale in Contraband. She is listed on the official site 2nd only to Mark Wahlberg. Would she be considered a lead? or is there a general guideline you like to use that way I could kinda get an idea at what to expect for some of my actors?

It’s not a big deal at this point, and perhaps the question was already answered and I missed it, but I’m sure it will become even more important as time goes on. Lead vs. Supporting.

  16. Squasher88 says:

How do the points for “Casting/Directing Gigs” work? Do you get points for that actor being in a movie + points for box office/rotten tomatoes?? Also, for the casting/directing news, does it relate to films that will be released this year or in the future?

  17. Just to be clear, are the box office points for a movies entire theatrical run or just opening week?

  18. I’m not sure if this fits under the casting gigs for 2012 or not(It was listed as a project under development on imdb for before this year started)but i figured it was worth a shot

  19. Max says:

@Castor – Do I get points for a DGA win?

  20. Novroz says:

    I finished my pitch :)
Do you want to publish it like previous pitch?
it is currently on scheduled post

  21. Does RDJ get any PR points for his baby being born?

  22. iluvcinema says:

Does Fassbender her points for Irish Film and TV Awards?

  23. Castor says:

Scores updated through February 12. Let me know if I missed something, I’m sure I did ahah

  24. Just mentioning that Liam Neeson is in need of points for The Grey.

    Thanks.

  25. iluvcinema says:

Hey Castor, I get points for Fassy’s casting in the Ridley Scott film and that other film you mentioned last week, correct?

  26. Ryan says:

Hey Castor, where do we submit our pitches?

  27. My pitch. I added 2 cast members, but neither of them were picked by anyone here and i’m not counting them for points, so i hope its all right http://dirtywithclass.wordpress.com/2012/03/01/fantasy-pitch-3/

  28. Squasher88 says:

Are we still working with that deadline for the pitches? Mine isn’t ready yet.

  29. Zac Efron is the lead in the Lorax. Just making sure i get the points for it when it opens tomorrow

  30. Squasher88 says:

    Here’s my movie pitch: http://filmactually.blogspot.com/p/movie-pitch-shot-and-ghost.html

I hope it doesn’t bore you to death.

  31. Novroz says:

Everyone seems to put the link to their pitch here…I might as well do it too ;)

    http://bokunosekai.wordpress.com/2012/02/11/movie-pitch-3-under-the-hood/

  32. iluvcinema says:

Are we supposed to be updating you with info here?

  33. Novroz says:

Does new acting gig count? If so, then my Benedict should get one as he is going to play in Star trek

  34. Squasher88 says:

The scoreboard is in serious need of an update. Are the Oscar results even in yet?

On a side note, I’m kicking myself for not drafting someone from The Hunger Games.

  35. Castor, are we going to get a update anytime soon?

  36. Not to be demanding, but my pitch and The Lorax still do count right?

With that said, i’m happy to have jumped from near bottom place to 8th :)

  37. Clarabela says:

WOW. I completely forgot to make my movie pitch. I hope it isn’t too late.

  38. Woohoo. Glad for the update. Thanks for all the hard work here Castor.

Just to mention. Liam Neeson still shows 0 for The Grey, and I was able to complete and post my pitch. http://thefocusedfilmographer.com/2012/03/14/my-hollywood-fantasy-draft-pitch-3/

    Thanks again!

  39. Looks like a casting gig for Skarsgard. Sounds like a lead role, but not a %100 sure yet http://collider.com/hidden-alexander-skarsgard/157243/

  40. Squasher88 says:

Hey Castor sorry to nitpick, but based on my calculations, I should have 5500. :)

  41. iluvcinema says:

Did you ever catch my movie pitch?

  42. Looks like a casting gig for Lawrence http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/23679/jennifer-lawrence-enters-a-glass-castle Also i am assuming Catching fire and the X-men first class sequel don’t count due to those being assumed?

  43. Novroz says:

Castor…does Bafta for TV nomination can be considered in the point? http://t.co/Vk07jyrI Benedict and Martin both got nominated in this year’s BAFTA

  44. Nicholas says:

Hey Castor could you add points for Bryan Cranston in Red Tails and Vera Farmiga in Safe House?
