Watch: First Trailer for Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’
Focus Features has debuted the first trailer for Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom, featuring a great cast that includes Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman. The film tells the story of two twelve-year-olds (Jared Gilman, Kara Hayward) who fall in love, and decide to run away together into the wilderness. As the authorities attempts to track them down, the peaceful island community is thrown upside down.
The quirky preview is peculiar Wes Anderson at his best (or worst if you aren’t a fan) and this has all the looks of a delightfully offbeat comedy. Check out the trailer below or click over to Apple to see it in HD. Moonrise Kingdom will open on May 25.
Let us know what you think!
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.

I want to marry this trailer. So much joy
Ahah yea it’s a great trailer!
Wow, what a cast he’s got here. I’ve only seen Royal Tennenbaums but haven’t really got into other works by Wes. He sure does love Bill Murray!
Personally, I hated The Royal Tennenbaums but hopefully I can get into this. I think I will
OOOOHHH… it looks so gorgeous. I will definitely go see this!!! Just in time to as Wes Anderson will be my next Auteurs profile next month.
Nice, looking forward to it Steven!
Typical Wes Anderson brilliance, it looks both beautifully eccentric in all the right ways. Also, I would have never pictured Willis in that role, yet he works, somehow…
Yea I’m loving the cast. Bruce Willis as the sheriff isn’t that much of a stretch!
Looks very funny and I’m just happy that Ed Norton is back on the big-screen after the fact that I haven’t seen him ever since The Incredible Hulk and that cameo in The Invention of Lying. Looks stacked as Anderson’s films always are.
Yea it’s been a while since I saw Ed Norton, especially in a more comedic type of role. Looking forward to it!
Cannot wait for this film! I like the fact that Anderson is bringing in actors who you would not normally associate with his style of film (e.g. Willis, Norton).
Yea hopefully, they will be awesome in a different light!
Wow what a cast! I’m hoping this one is a return to form for him.
You didn’t like Fantastic Mr. Fox?
Oh, this looks wonderful. I retract any concerns I had about Anderson going back to live-action after the magnificence of Fantastic Mr. Fox. I feel quite vindicated for putting this on my “15 films to look forward to in 2012″ list.
Ahaha. It’s definitely in my top 15 now too
Holy.Mary.Mother.Of.God. If this movie lives up to that trailer…..
It will… IT WILL!
I hadn’t realized that this film would have so many kids in it, since all of the releases to date have focused on the amazing adult cast. It looks like a lot of fun!
It’s nice that the kids are the protagonists with the well-known faces as supporting characters.
Love me some Wes Anderson, his films should be required viewing IMO. Trailer looks great and I can’t wait to see this.
I still need to catch up on everything is done since Tenenbaums.
Great trailer. Couldn’t be so psyched.
When this hit earlier this week, it put me in such a Wes Anderson mood I wound up doing “Rushmore” as my movie of the week. LOL
I cant wait to see it. It’s going to be a nice treat amongst the big blockbusters, too. Cant wait to see how Ed Norton fits in to the Andersonverse!
Interesting trailer, but I am one who does not readily connect with Wes Anderson’s work.
