Watch: Fan-Made Trailer for ‘John Carter’ Puts Disney to Shame
Last week, we received word that Andrew Stanton’s $250 million film John Carter was in major trouble ahead of its March 9 release. Indeed, the movie’s poor box office tracking was showing low awareness and very low interest from the general public and one only has to look in the direction of Disney’s marketing machine which came up with such a generic full trailer that most people have no idea what the premise of the movie is about.
Making that even more obvious is the following fan-made trailer (via Badass Digest) which puts the venerable studio to shame. We finally get a better idea of the science-fiction premise of the movie and what will drive the story and main protagonist.
John Carter opens in 3D on March 9th. Let us know what you think!

You ain’t lyin’. I didn’t even know that the film starts with him on earth. I’ve seen the other trailer several times and while I found it intriguing, I had no earthly clue what it was about. earthly clue….pun intended
I know right! They’ve done such a bad job laying out the story. They should just re-do this trailer with clean HD cuts and a better song and it would probably raise a lot more interest than the current full trailer.
I really like this trailer, it’s much better than the first one! It raised my interest, but I still think it looks stupid!
Ahaha still looks like a generic version of Star Wars?
Oh, Hell yes. Now this I can get behind. Waaaaayyyyyyyy better than that crappy Disney trailer. Someone there needs to be lined up and shot (metaphorically speaking
). Thanks for the heads up, Castor.
Or fired
Thanks for dropping by Michael!
Agreed! This is a fantastic trailer. Disney should hire the creator of this fan-made piece!
That looks more like a film I’d like to see. Didn’t know there was actual Earth stuff going on in the film at all. It’s amazing what fans can do with limited clips and some creativity. Probably more of a knowledge of narrative for a trailer.
