Natalie Portman Joins Terrence Malick’s ‘Lawless’ & ‘Knight Of Cups’
While this is no surprise, it’s still interesting to note that Terrence Malick’s casts for his back-to-back films Lawless and Knight of Cups are getting ridiculously star-heavy. Deadline reports that Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman has committed to both movies, her first two post-Oscar roles since her acclaimed performance in 2010′s Black Swan.
She joins a motley crew of Hollywood stars that includes Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Haley Bennett. Knight of Cups will begin shooting in the summer while Lawless will shoot in the fall. Naturally, no details on what the movies will be about although it was stated before that they would have separate narratives.
In the meantime, we are still waiting for the untitled romance starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, which we presume should hit the festival circuit at some point this year. The film wrapped up shooting last spring and “concerns a philanderer (Affleck) who, feeling at loose ends, travels to Paris, where he enters a hot-and-heavy affair with a European woman (Olga Kurylenko). Said Lothario returns home to Oklahoma, where he marries the European woman (in part for visa reasons). When the relationship founders, he rekindles a romance with a hometown girl (Rachel McAdams) with whom he’s had a long history.”

So i guess she wants to make up for Friends with Benefits and Your Highness
That’s a lot of making up to do.
Natalie Portman in two Terrence Malick films… SCORE!!!
Awesome casts, the only question is who’s next??
Portman is obviously searching for more awards after her successes with Black Swan. Won’t bet against her with these films.
Looks like she broke the Oscar curse!
I’m beginning to suspect all these secretive, constantly updated projects of Malick’s are going to turn into a real life “Synecdoche, New York.”
i love natalie portman. so, yes, lets do this.
