Universal has released a new trailer for American Reunion which sees all the characters from the first movie reunite once again for their high school reunion. Naturally, there is still plenty of the trademark crude humor that has kept the franchise afloat for over a decades. Jim (Jason Biggs) is contemplating doing unspeakable things to the girl he used to babysit who is about to turn 18. Eugene Levy is making jokes about the pages of a porn magazine sticking together.
But as hinted in the first trailer, there is a certain sentimentality to American Reunion that makes it more appealing than previous installments, a realization that time has gone by and that everyone has gone on different paths. Is it possible that we will get a bittersweet conclusion to the American Pie franchise? Let’s hope so.
American Reunion opens April 6, 2012. Watch the trailer below or click over to Yahoo! to see it in HD.
In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago are returning to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about—and get inspired by—the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.
