First Poster for Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’
The first poster for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom has been released (via Moviefone) and it’s a gorgeous piece of art. The style of the one-sheet reminds me of old book covers for fairy tales as it features the film’s protagonists, Sam and Suzy (Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward), standing in the middle of the woods, tiny little creatures in the overwhelming vastness of nature.
Moonrise Kingdom centers on two 12 year-olds who fall in love and decide run away together into the wilderness. Naturally, the local community frantically scrambles to find them before a violent storm hits shore. The film also stars Bill Murray, Ed Norton, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and Jason Schwartzman.
Moonrise Kingdom is out on May 25. Check out the movie poster below:

Swoon. I’m so psyched about this movie. If nothing else, it will look amazing.
It won’t just look amazing, it will be amazing!
Purdy!
Yes.
Cute! It almost look like a retro book cover.
Right? Looks like one of those old kiddie book cover, I love it!
May 25?! I had this pegged for an end of the year release. Now I have something to be genuinely excited about this summer! Yay!
You aren’t excited for Step Up 4? What is wrong with you Nick???
Although I ain’t much of a Wes Anderson fan I sure do love his posters.
It’s certainly a bold move to not have the faces of all those well-known stars right on the poster (even if their names are there). I just read that this one will be the opening film for Cannes, which should help to boost its indie box office results!
Fairytale whimsy! I love it
I like the storybook sweetness of this shot; it says a lot about what we should expect from the movie, and I think it speaks well to Anderson’s proclivities as a filmmaker.
