Must Watch: Stunning First Trailer for ‘Lawless’
The Weinstein Company has debuted the first trailer for Lawless, John Hillcoat’s adaptation of the novel The Wettest County in the World. Featuring an incredible cast that includes Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman, the film is set in Prohibition-era Virginia where the Bondurant brothers run a bootlegging gang but have to contend with the local authorities wanting a cut of their profits.
A ridiculously slimy Guy Pearce looks like he is having the time of his life while we get a glimpse of Gary Oldman putting a Tommy gun to good use. And let’s not forget to mention the ever so lovely Jessica Chastain is looking great as always. Add the fact that I enjoyed what Hillcoat did with his previous film The Road and needless to say, my anticipation for this movie instantly shot through the roof.
Watch the trailer below or click over to Apple to watch in HD. Lawless hits theaters nationwide on August 31st.
LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.

This looks awesome. I love Pearce, didn’t recognise him at first. Also sexy Chastain! Oldman’s awesome as always and I do so love it when he plays a shady character. Everyone else looks good too. I needed something like this ever since Boardwalk Empire went a bit bad.
Yea Pearce is putting his striking facial features to good use
Couldn’t be more up my street if it tried!!
Good to hear!
Did Pearce just decide to start acting again or something?
Also, this looks very, very good.
Well, he is certainly making a huge comeback which is great to see given that his career never really took off after LA Confidential
Can’t wait.
Pearce does look like he’s having a fun time, but what the hell is up with his voice? It kept reminding me of this guy:

Lol, I don’t mind it though.
Wow! It will be something! A superb cast with Hillcoat holding the handle I’m in!
Let’s hope so! I’m definitely pumped for this now.
Well you already know I’m up for this Castor
I just had to post it the minute I saw it.
Which is surprising to me, given that no one is really striking me as your type of actor, outside of Gary Oldman
Yeah, the trailer impressed me too. And i also liked the Road
Pretty underrated flick, The Road. More peeps should see it.
Damn that looks bad ass!!! can’t wait to check that out on the big screen.
It looks badass but then Shia appears on screen and it looks a little less every time ahah
Not bad … not bad. Great cast (and Shia LaBeouf) and Pearce being awesome!
This does look good. Plus, it’s written by Nick Cave who is a win for me. Guy Pearce looks awesome and Jessica Chastain… oh yeah!!!
Wow I didn’t know he was scoring and also writing the movie. Very impressive and makes me even more excited for this!
Dayum. I can’t wait for this. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good moonshinin’ movie.
Yea they don’t come along very often, that’s for sure. Hopefully, this won’t turn out like that Michael Mann movie… Public Enemies
Hearing that Shia LaBeouf got into a brawl with Tom “Warrior” Hardy on this film’s set makes me wonder if he’s crazy, stupid or both.
Ahaha indeed, but I hear he gets into a lot of bar brawl… and gets his face thumped.
