Watch: Enchanting Trailer & Clip from Short Film ‘Pitch Black Heist’ with Michael Fassbender

Coming to the Tribeca Film Festival (April 18-29) is the short film titled Pitch Black Heist, starring the omnipresent Michael Fassbender as well as Liam Cunningham. The BAFTA-winning film centers around two thieves planning a heist that will require them to do so in complete darkness.

“One of my favorite films is Rififi, this 1950s heist film where there’s a stretch where they can’t make a sound. When I watched it a few years ago I thought it would be good to do it pitch black with sound. Plus it’s cheap,” director John Maclean told EW. Maclean tinkered with the script for 90 days before shooting the movie in only three.

Needless to say that we are on board for anything that Fassbender gets involved with. Given the terrific year he had in 2011 with Jane Eyre, X-Men: First Class, Shame and A Dangerous Method, we are only looking to see more of the Irish actor.

Check out the trailer below as well as a 2-minute clip where the two men are lip-syncing to Teresa Brewer’s 1960 song, “If There Are Stars In My Eyes“ below (via The Playlist):

Wow this looks bloody sexy. Fassbender is just oozing with talent.

Yes, I’m in for this one. However, as much as Fassbender is getting all the buzz for this one, the fact that the vastly underrated Liam Cunningham is in it is what’s sold it for me. I really love this character actor’s work. No doubt, Fassbender is the up-and-comer, but I think he’s getting overexposed and overly hyped like Colin Farrell once did (which cost him).

Check! On my must see list at Tribeca :D
    A reunion of Hunger castmates!

  4. Andrew says:

Cunningham and Fassbenger kill it in their scene together in Hunger; putting them in a short with each other just seems like a magical formula for something great. I’m in.

  5. Michael Fassbender in black-and-white… OH!! I so want to be his bitch!!!

  6. Dave Enkosky says:

    Damn, that looks so cool.

  7. Mr Fassbender once again showing his talents, and the short film itself looks like one to look out for (aka, I hope it finds its way online after the Tribeca festival…).

  8. Dan says:

Fassbender doesn’t stop. Heard he was already working on his next film with Steve McQueen already.
