First Look at Chadwick Boseman in Jackie Robinson Biopic ’42′

Late last year, we brought you word that newcomer Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford would star in the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 and now, we have our first look at the movie which is currently shooting  in Birmingham, Alabama (via Birmingham Mail).

As you may already expect, the movie depicts Robinson’s rise to become the first African-American baseball player in Major League’s history and how he, along with Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey (Ford), brought an end to racial segregation in baseball.

Brian Helgeland (LA Confidential) is directing the movie, which will hit theaters April 12th, 2013. Take a look below at Boseman along with Nicole Beharie (Shame) who is playing Robinson’s wife, Rachel Isum. No glimpse of Harrison Ford yet but maybe he is hiding among the 5,000 inflatable dressed as fans, used to fill the seats of Rickwood Field at minimal cost.

That last picture with the dummies in the seats is hilarious. At first, I thought someone had photoshopped the Wizard of Oz scarecrow right behind the writer.
