New Clip from ‘Killing Them Softly’ with Brad Pitt
For years, we have been waiting for director Andrew Dominik’s follow up to his 2007 movie The Assassination of Jesse James and it looks like the wait is about to be over. We have a new clip from his upcoming crime drama Killing Them Softly (via IGN) and star Brad Pitt explains exactly what the title of the film is all about.
The film centers on a mob enforcer (Pitt) who is hired to hunt down three low-level criminals who robbed a mob-protected poker game. The movie made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival a few days ago and stunned its audience with a killer ending and a pervasive underlying message about the state of our dysfunctional society.
Watch the clip after the jump. Killing Them Softly opens on September 21st.
Three dumb guys who think they’re smart rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse. Brad Pitt plays the enforcer hired to track them down and restore order. KILLING THEM SOFTLY also features Richard Jenkins (THE VISITOR), James Gandolfini (“The Sopranos”), Ray Liotta (NARC), Scoot McNairy (MONSTERS), Ben Mendelsohn (ANIMAL KINGDOM), and Vincent Curatola (“The Sopranos”). Max Casella, Trevor Long, Slaine and Sam Shepard also make appearances. KILLING THEM SOFTLY is written for the screen and directed by Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford), and is based on the George V. Higgins novel, “Cogan’s Trade.”

Wow two movies I’m looking forward to see on the same month, this and Looper. Can’t wait to see this one. The Assassination of Jesse James was a very underrated film, Andrew Dominik is becoming one of my favorite filmmakers today.
Yea surprising that these two movies will come out in September but those will be a nice change of pace from the big summer blockbusters.
I saw this clip earlier, it’s pretty damn cool.
And the king of cool is in that trailer… yea I’m talking about Mr. Doback a.k.a Richard Jenkins
I remember liking The Assassination of Jesse James so i will be sure to look out for this one
Oh my god, my expectations couldn’t be higher for this movie.
Very excited! Jesse James was my favorite film of 2007! It was brilliant. Andrew Dominik impressed me with his screenplay and incredible style. Also, did not hurt that Roger Deakins is a genius! The train robbery scene is amazing!
Looks like this is well worth the long wait!
Yea, Deakins has done an incredible job with his cinematography over the years. Looking forward to see what he did here.
This looks like it is going to be on my top 10 list this year for sure!!
I’m all over this, though I’m still bitter about the name change.
That cast is fucking awesome, to boot, though having Pitt and Gandolfini in the same movie again gives me The Mexican shivers…not good.
