Sexy New Pics from Brian de Palma’s ‘Passion’ with Rachel McAdams & Noomi Rapace

A few days ago, we brought you a first look at Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace getting all hot and bothered in Brian de Palma’s erotic thriller Passion. Well, these new images (De Palma A La Mod via The Playlist) will give an even better (or shall we say steamier?) idea of what’s in store.

As you can see from the pictures below, De Palma might well be rounding back into form with this sexy thriller while McAdams and Rapace look to be stretching out off their comfort zone. Read the official synopsis below:

An erotic thriller in the tradition of “Dressed To Kill” and “Basic Instinct”, Brian de Palma’s PASSION tells the story of a deadly power struggle between two women in the dog-eat-dog world of international business. Christine possesses the natural elegance and casual ease associated with one who has a healthy relationship with money and power. Innocent, lovely and easily exploited, her admiring protégé Isabelle is full of cutting-edge ideas that Christine has no qualms about stealing. They’re on the same team, after all… Christine takes pleasure in exercising control over the younger woman, leading her one step at a time ever deeper into a game of seduction and manipulation, dominance and humiliation. But when Isabelle falls into bed with one of Christine’s lovers, war breaks out. On the night of the murder, Isabelle is at the ballet, while Christine receives an invitation to seduction. From whom? Christine loves surprises. Naked she goes to meet the mystery lover waiting in her bedroom…

This sounds more than intriguing enough for me. And if you need more convincing, just take a look at McAdams wearing some creepy mask while she is about to slice someone open with a knife.

As a critic I hate to say a film looks bonerific, but this one does.

  2. De Palma’s films are visually stunning. However, in the last decade he seemed to have lost his edge… I’m a bit curious about this one.

Dressed to Kill anyone? Palma going back to his roots. That mask pic is awesome

  4. Please de Palma, don’t make this film suck.

  5. Dave Enkosky says:

Coo. I didn’t even realize he had a movie in the works. I hope it’s a return to form.

The poster is kinda bleh but the pictures are lovely. Hope this one will be good!

    • Castor says:

Yea the poster is meh but it’s not an official poster what what I get. It’s just used as promo since they are trying to sell the movie at Cannes.

  7. Colleeng says:

I agree the poster is a bit trite, but the stills and breakdown sound promising. I sure could go for a GOOD erotic thriller. Nothing has matched up since Mulholland Drive, that was HOT!

  8. Novroz says:

McAdams looks so different!! I almost don’t recognize her….and that mask is awesome

    Hi, Castor and company:

This looks one heck of a lot like DePalma’s ‘Femme Fatale’ from several years back. Fortified with a lingerie/garter, seamed stockings and heel fetish. Has the feel of a Bob Guccione photo shoot from Penthouse magazine.

This sounds a lot like the plot to Alain Corneau’s 2010 French thriller Love Crimes. I know De Palma kinda steals a lot of his ideas and such (which I am more than okay with because he does turn them into his own unique vision after doing so) but usually it is from Hitchcock, so this is probably mere coincidence.

I am looking forward to this film though. One of my all-time favourite films is De Palma’s Blow Out, though this seems to be more in the vein of Dressed to Kill and Femme Fatale – two more solid De Palma films (even if they are both Hitchcock stories to begin with).

@Kevyn Knox It seems like Love Crime, because it IS actually a remake.

    • Kevyn Knox says:

Well what do ya know – that would explain things a bit. I should have known De Palma was not doing something original. Excited to see what he does with the material, because Corneau’s was a fun film and all, but with De Palma’s kind of touch – it should be extra juicy.

I guess this is supposed to be titillating but I have not really gotten dePalma as a film maker. I will wait for this one. One thing playing in its favor for me is that fact that I like the lead actresses.

    • My dad kind of feels the same way. I don’t think my dad liked anything dePalma did until Scarface. TO him it felt like dePalma was just remaking Hitchcock films.

  13. Andrew says:

Hot stuff mixed with weird stuff; sounds like a de Palma film. Definitely looking forward to this now.

  14. Alex Withrow says:

Whoa, holy god. Bring. It. On. Like, now.

  15. Cool pics and poster, but man am I tired of these damn remakes.
