Terrence Malick’s Romantic Drama With Ben Affleck & Rachel McAdams Now Called ‘To The Wonder’; Will Be R-Rated
As with every period leading into the release of a Terrence Malick movie, we are left speculating and wondering the same questions. Will the movie come out this year? What is it about? What members of the cast will make the final cut? Just a few weeks ago, fans were hoping that his then-Untitled Romantic Drama would premiere at the Cannes Film Festival but as the lineup came and went, Malick’s movie was sadly missing. But here comes some great news.
First off, we almost came to assume that the film would release with the official title of “Untitled Terrence Malick Movie” but we can now rejoice that the movie now has a name: To The Wonder. Additionally, the Classifications & Rating Administration (CARA) has revealed (via The Film Stage) that the film has been rated R for “some sexuality/nudity.” Is Malick experimenting with more hot and heavy themes?
As you may already know, the story centers on a man (Affleck) who, feeling at loose ends, travels to Paris (where else?), and enters a hot-and-heavy affair with a European woman (Olga urylenko). He returns home to Oklahoma, where he marries the European woman (in part for visa reasons), only for the relationship to fail. He winds up rekindling a romance with a hometown girl (McAdams) with whom he’s had a long history.
While this may sound like a fairly generic plot, any Malick aficionado knows the movie will be anything like. Remember The Tree of Life? At any rate, this is another step forward. To The Wonder has yet to lock a distribution deal in the US but it could happen at the Cannes Film Festival later this week. Will we see the movie by the end of the year? We still don’t know and the saga continues.

I don’t care if the plot seems generic, Malick always has something unique to bring to us. I’m just glad that we don’t have a long wait between his new films!

Is Affleck looking to have his own fassbender moment? Will we get shots of breasts surrounded by nature?

Oooh I like the storyline. It’s fairly generic yes but Malick’s direction will separate this from the pack. Besides, we don’t get too many full-on romance drama these days, way too many rom-coms! So yeah, I’m up for this.
P.S. Of course I’d LOVE it even more if it were Bale in Affleck’s role but hey, at least he’s working on another project with Malick
Yea with Malick, it could be even more off the beaten path as The Tree of Life. You just don’t know what to expect!
Affleck working with Malick… who’d have thought we’d have seen this ten years ago? Say after Armageddon and Pearl Harbour. Seriously interesting career Affleck’s having.

The title “To the Wonder” doesn’t seem exciting but it’s Malick. Dude is on a roll!
Plus, could this mean any nude scenes from Rachel McAdams?
Doubt it from past history but seems like she is getting a bit more risque as of late
I hope it’s also rated R for werewolf gore. Because that’s what I’ve always wanted in a Malick movie.
