Watch: Red Band Trailer for ‘The Watch’ (a.k.a. ‘Neighborhood Watch’)
A red band trailer for The Watch, previously known as Neighborhood Watch, has surfaced online (via IGN). While I much prefer the previous title to the new one, it’s fairly obvious that 20th Century Fox doesn’t want its movie to remind people of the tragic Trayvon Martin case in Florida.
The sci-fi comedy revolves around four everyday suburban friends (Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade) who team up to form a neighborhood watch group so they can escape their dull family lives one night a week. But when they accidentally discover that their town has become overrun with aliens posing as ordinary suburbanites, they have no choice but to save their neighborhood — and the world — from total extermination.
The preview is pretty foul mouthed and could be quite hilarious if you are into cows getting blown up by alien weaponry and raunchy jokes. Akiva Schaffer is directing with Billy Crudup, Will Forte, Rosemarie DeWitt, and in supporting roles.
Watch the trailer below. The Watch opens July 27th.

R. Lee Emrey. That’s all that’s need to be said. That dude is awesome!
Tell me about it. I don’t care that he essentially plays the same role in everything. I’ll never get tired of it.
Nothing will beat his role in Full Metal Jacket!!
Looks good.I’m always up for raunchy humour
I don’t know. It doesn’t look like my cup of tea.
I think I was a little more interested in this one when I didn’t know it was about an alien invasion…think I’ll give it a pass. Despite being a huge fan of Richard Ayoade.
Yea, I’m not all that excited for this either. I guess I need to see more but Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller don’t really do it for me anymore.
Name change is a good idea but probably does not go far enough. I would shelve this till next spring, probably get better numbers.
I’m with Russell. The alien concept actually makes it less interesting (to my eyes), more broad.
Also, where is Billy Crudup in this trailer? He’s not going to get cut, is he? Or only have a 3 minute scene?
No love for Richard ‘Submarine’ Ayoade on the poster? [sad face]
