A Case For Kate Winslet To Light The Olympic Cauldron
As of today we are but one month away from the opening ceremonies of the London Summer Olympic Games. Thus, the answer to the all-important question of who will be the last native Englander to take possession of the Olympic flame and light the cauldron draws ever closer.
Sir Steve Redgrave, a multi-Gold Medalist rower, continues to be the odds-on favorite despite Redgrave having gone on record as saying he WON’T be the one to light the cauldron.
The odds also potentially favor middle distance runner Kelly Holmes or legendary decathlete Daley Thompson.
But I am here to tell the London Olympic Organizing Committee something they should already know – namely, KATE WINSLET LIVES IN YOUR COUNTRY!!!
Yeah. She does. She’s British! And because she’s British I strenuously recommend the Oscar Winning Actress earn the honor of lighting the Olympic Cauldron.
What’s that, you say? She’s not an athlete? Oh. I’m sorry. Apparently you haven’t seen A Kid In King Arthur’s Coat. That’s the one where Kate plays the Princess who assumes the guise of the Black Knight and rides in on a horse (equestrian, anyone?) to save the bacon of the Kid In King Arthur’s Court himself.
Trump that, Middleton.
So……are we squared away? Is it settled? Kate Winslet to light the Olympic Cauldron? Yes?
I’ll just assume yes.
DO YOU THINK KATE WINSLET SHOULD LIGHT THE OLYMPIC CAULDRON? YES. JUST SAY, YES.

Hehe sorry Kate, I don’t really care who lights up the olypic flame
I think Kate Winslet would be great but why in the hell would you mention a movie that she completely dislikes and refuses to watch?
Oh man. Does she really? I should have known that. I got carried away in my desperation to make this case. I hope she accepts my apology.
Its true. It was very early in her career and they (Disney executives) were horrible to her, insisting she lose weight etc. They wouldn’t dare treat her like that now would they? Arseholes.
…..and you could mention her swimming (Iris, The Reader), playing tennis (All The Kings’ Men), running very fast (The Life Of David Gale) or even carrying people out of burning buildings (the real world). I’ll stop now.
The burning building rescue! Argggghhhhh! How did I forget to mention that?! Good call.
I really Schruted this post. I’m so sorry, Kate. No wonder she didn’t get to light the cauldron.
