Charlize Theron in Talks to Star in John Madden’s ‘Murder Mystery’

After a two year hiatus, Oscar winner Charlize Theron is enjoying a strong return to the big screen with acclaimed turns in Young Adult, Snow White and the Huntsman and Prometheus. The actress is looking to keep the ball rolling with a lighter fare, the comedy whodunit Murder Mystery (via THR) which will follow a married couple on their honeymoon who are implicated in a murder they witnessed.

The movie is said to be “an affectionate deconstruction of an Agatha Christie-style thriller.” Attached to direct is John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) who is making a return of sort, himself, with The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel currently garnering highly positive reviews. While Theron is known almost exclusively as a dramatic actress, it certainly will be intriguing to see what she can do with a comedic role.

The South African beauty recently shaved her head in anticipation of shooting George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road alongside Tom Hardy so don’t expect Murder Mystery to starting filming until this fall or possibly next year.
