Three New Images from ‘The Great Gatsby’
After seeing the trailer for Baz Luhrmann‘s The Great Gatsby, I’m ambivalent as to whether the director’s bombastic style will do F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s classic novel justice. Nonetheless, one can’t deny that the man knows how to put on a visual show via vibrant sets and eye-catching costumes.
Take a look at three new pictures from the movie (via HeyUGuys) and let us know what you think! The Great Gatsby opens in 3D on December 25th.
The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

I just reread the book a few days back. I am so excited!
As much as I love the clothes, I hate that last photo. It’s so tabloid-y
Please Baz… don’t let this one suck.
You know what this movie needs–mutant bikers.
Although I’m not a fan of 3D I am interested to see what Luhrmann comes up with as he’s usually such a visually exciting director.
I am really looking forward to this movie. Keeping my fingers crossed that it’s as good as I hope it will be and will truly do the novel justice.
