Watch: First Trailer for ‘Alex Cross’ with Tyler Perry & Matthew Fox
Summit Entertainment has released the first trailer for Rob Cohen’s adaptation of the James Patterson crime novel Alex Cross. Tyler Perry takes on the titular role, previously made famous by Morgan Freeman in movies such as Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls. The plot centers on Cross trying to resolve a series of grisly murders with Matthew Fox (Lost) playing the cunning and sadistic killer.
I can’t help but think this looks like a bad CSI episode with both Perry and Fox being completely over-the-top with their respective characters. It’s mind-boggling to think that the producers chose Perry over Idris Elba, who was initially set to star. It will be interesting to see how the movie does at the box office as Patterson does have a fair contingent of fans.

The pictures released for this a couple weeks back had me excited for this, but you are right in saying that this looks like a bad CSI episode, as well as the Idris Elba part. Will probably still watch it, but it might be coming off my list of movies to look forward to for the second half of the year. Good thing too, because I need to cut a few movies.
…Was there really no other black actor they could get for the lead?
Seriously, where was Don Cheadle? Michael K. Williams? Derek Luke? Forest Whitaker? Any of these guys would’ve been good for this part. Denzel would be expensive and it’s sort of beneath him.
totally underwhelmed by this trailer. perry can’t carry this film, even though everyone else looks fine in it.
Was wondering where Matthew Fox had been. Looks like he’s been busy spending the last few years shaving his head.
Hmm, no clue who this Tyler Perry is. Don’t think this is a must see for me. Though, be interested in seeing Fox play the villain like he does here.
They didn’t choose Tyler Perry over Idris Elba. Elba was actually already signed on for the role, but dropped out last year. It’s a shame.
I had no idea this film was being made, looks pretty awful to me. The great Rob Cohen who gave us masterpieces such as XXX, Stealth and a bunch other crappy films, so yeah I’ll pass on this one.
