Watch: First Trailer for Musical Comedy ‘Pitch Perfect’ Starring Anna Kendrick
Universal has released the first trailer for the musical comedy Pitch Perfect, starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Elizabeth Banks. The film follows Beca (Kendrick), a girl who arrives at her new college and finds herself not right for any clique. She discovers her voice when she somehow is muscled into the school’s a capella group where she becomes the secret weapon for the school’s female team.
The premise sounds pretty rote but one can’t deny that the involvement of Kendrick and Wilson makes this quite a bit more intriguing than it should be. The former gets a chance to showcase her impressive pipes while Bridesmaids standout Rebel Wilson should add her dry brand of humor to the proceedings. The film also stars Brittany Snow, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and John Michael Higgins.
Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think! Pitch Perfect opens on October 5th.
Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you. Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together, in the new out-loud comedy Pitch Perfect.
When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college a cappella. This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.
Loaded with new takes on old favorites to hits of right now that are seamlessly mixed together, mashed-up and arranged like you’ve never heard before, Pitch Perfect is directed by Jason Moore, who opened our eyes to the very misbehaved life of puppets in the surprise Broadway sensation Avenue Q.

For those who thought… “I like Glee, and I like Bridesmaids… boy, I wish there was a film that shamelessly slams the two together.” … also, as a musician and composer, I disagree with the choice of harmony when singing in the shower…
Can’t view the trailer for some reason so I can’t tell if Kendrick’s a decent singer. I know she can act though.
I don’t like it. I love Anna Kendrick but no. Plus, I still don’t like Rebel Wilson. She’s not funny.
Yeah, looks like an effort to mashup Glee and Bridesmaids. ut it doesn’t look horrible, so it has potential i guess
Also, is every comedy now going to have a profane fat chick?
Kendrick was awesome in 50/50. This looks terrible though. I like musicals. What I don’t like is dumbed-down autotuned vocals. I remember when people used to actually sing in musicals. These days they don’t need that talent because it will all be taken care of in post production. Could you imagine Grease turned into this kind of crap?
