Watch: Frank Langella Gets a Robot Friend in ‘Robot and Frank’

Earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, new director Jake Schreier debuted his first full length feature film, Robot and Frank. Frank is played by Frank Langella, an older man who is no longer able to watch after himself, so his children (James Marsden and Liv Tyler) buy him a robot to take care him. Voiced by Peter Sarsgaard, the robot eventually helps Frank get back into a life of crime.

I’ve been anticipating this for quite some time now, and it received some pretty good praise from the audiences at Sundance. To me, this feels like it could be a nice mix of Lars and the Real Girl and Beginners, although I doubt this has as much awards potential, although I could see some potential buzz for Frank Langella here. Having Peter Sarsgaard voicing the robot sounds like a fantastic idea as well.

Robot and Frank is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on August 24.
